Miami Dade County: Each Commissioner Governs All of Us. By Geniusofdespair

On vacation till further notice. Pass this post on, it is chock full of information. We have too many bad apples on the County Commission and it is time, time to clean house. Even if it is one district at a time, show the lobbyists we mean business! We need someone with common sense --  like we all have, like Daniella Levine Cava has.

Read this , my last post and use the links, I don't put them in for my health, if you have read them, thank you:

District 8 Commissioner Lynda Bell Submitted Petitions Like Her Opponent Daniella Levine. By Geniusofdespair

Daniella Levine is qualified by petition. Lynda Bell Awaits the results, she has also submitted petitions said Doug Hanks of the Miami Herald.

When Lynda Bell comes to your door with that smiling face, don't let her off easy (and don't let her in). Question her.  Or, better yet, say you are going to vote for her and she will leave in 5 minutes. If you don't, you will have to endure at least 20 minutes of convincing: I am a mother of 3 daughters I have 8 grandchildren with Hispanic last names, I was the first woman mayor of Homestead and was hated, only serving one term, I am a fiscal conservative (tea party), my husband and I teach Sunday school, we are business owners; I am the National Delegate of Florida Right to Life.

What Lynda Bell won't tell you at your door -- that I believe is all true: In redistricting I took out all the people that would not vote for me like parts of Homestead and all of Pinecrest; My daughter is living in a trailer in my backyard for over a year; While Homestead Mayor, I changed a towing law in Homestead so the Former Mayor of Sweetwater (in jail) could get the contract;  I was the only commissioner to vote to put Pink Slime in meat served by the County to people; I think arsenic is no big deal and said it at a commission meeting; I got help from David Rivera in my last campaign and shared his office for awhile; To the dismay of the whole environmental community, I voted to lift a 30 year deed restriction after only 5 years;  I misrepresented Audubon of Florida waving a paper not about the subject at a May 6th, 2014 County Commission meeting and I claimed I did outreach before I rushed through a resolution the Everglades Foundation told me was bad for Everglades restoration - in other words I lied; I single handily dismantled DERM with no help from the other commissioners and tried to water down wetland protection with a task force; It is rumored that I am strong-arming big companies for campaign donations with the veiled threat of retribution by county investigations and withholding county services; I got thousands of dollars from rock miners for my campaign and over a hundred thousand from Wayne Rosen in both ECO's and my campaign account; I voted not to give unions back their  temporary 5% cut; I didn't vote for the help libraries needed; A rich guy I am tight with (He held my victory party at his home) formed a mortgage company and gave my husband a mortgage to become a business owner, the Redland Hotel, before that he was on disability and he was a plumbers helper; I stole Frank Nero's geo-spatial website idea and called it my own after I helped get him fired from the Beacon Council;  I proposed a chain link fence ordinance not telling the rest of the County Commission there was a chain link fence company registered to my address and owned by my daughter; I claimed I protected the Environment on my website when it was untrue; I was endorsed by the Christian Family Coalition - a gay hate group;  I voted to move the Urban Development Boundary for the racetrack; My husband's failed campaign for Mayor is being investigated by the State's Attorney's offfice for Absentee Ballot Fraud; I named an affordable housing building with $10,000,000 of your tax dollars in it, after my mom who never did anything of note in Miami Dade County but raise me; I went to Tallahassee trying to make an end-run around the local government on the CRA; I sue people a lot and they sue me in feuds my former staffer Lois Jones and my neighbor Elaine Navarre as examples; I moved my office from the Government Center where the rent was free to Palmetto Bay during the down-turn when money was scarce - with the rent, the renovation and furnishings you the taxpayers are paying about $63,137 a year to keep me close to the coffee shops or  $252,550 over four years; I was called a bigot by Save Dade, etc. LYNDA BELL won't tell you things like that. But don't ask. Just give her a thumbs up and let her go on her way or she will talk your ear off.

If you see Daniella Levine Cava at your door, ask her if her husband is truly cranky, why she moved into the district, why she does not have 8 grandchildren, what she did at Catalyst Miami and does she really speak Spanish or is she just faking it for the campaign. After all, Lynda's grandchildren ALL have Hispanic last names, that is what she tells everyone.

Lynda Bell: Nice Smile, But Bad History.
Lynda Bell is very good at door to door, don't kid yourself, she knows how to mask her devious side and her vindictive behavior to get your vote. You will see her sign on your neighbor's lawn. Go over there and educate your friends.

Have a good vacation....Bell does need to go. Cava is not the answer though. She's very nice but too far to the left for me. I will not vote for either, sorry.

Not voting is not an option. Almost all the commissioners are to the right and it is not working you need political diversity. Lynda Bell is a bully is that what you want to win? You have to get rid of the bad apples. I am sure if you talk to Daniella you will find she supports good honest government.

By the way, I know that is how the Bell campaign is attacking Daniella - too liberal - because they have no other ammunition. I have never known her to be anything but fair and passionate to do the right thing. That would be a welcome change wouldn't it.

Daniella has common sense.Don't we need common sense? The edifice that is planned for bay front park that Al Crespo dubbed the bail clipper building --- the developer promised he would use all foreign investors. Some foreign investors, Tallahassee gave him about $2 million dollars. Tallahassee money is our money. All you need is common sense to know that is a crazy way to spend tax dollars. But the lobbyists always win. Daniella is no beholden to special interests or lobbyists.

That farewell sounds like an ominous final goodbye.

Are you all right?

Geniusofdespair said...

Just focus on the blog please.

Mrs. Cava will make an outstanding District 8 Commissioner. Linda Bell is the biggest FOOL I know.

Let's get rid of one bad apple at a time. You are correct Genius one commissioner vote can change our lives forever.

Lynda Bell is our local Michelle Bachman. If you are OK with that, please have your head examined.

In two consecutive District 8 elections former Commissioner Sorenson has hand picked her preferred candidate. This time it cost Levine-Cava a million dollars for a home in the Palmetto Bay to achieve residency in the District. Sorenson resigned in 2010 but clearly she wants to remain in control. The job pays $6,000 per year, Levine-Cava's taxes will be ten times that for the Coral Gables and Palmetto Bay homes.
These are elitists, in retrospect Sorenson should have stayed in office and not pull strings behind the scenes.

I continually voted and supported Katy. Her voting record on issues important to me were about 50/50. I say that because while she was strong on the UDB she made some very bad decisions affecting the southern most part of UMSA which we are living with today. I see Cava doing the same because I don't believe she understands anything south of Palmetto Bay or much in Kendall.

If there are only two choices, I will vote for Cava. If she wins and turns out to be a tax and spend liberal, I will work very hard to vote her out as I am with Bell.

Bell is a freak, so is Bachmann, so is Palin. They remind me of a warped version of hillbilly stepford wives.

Katy is not the finder of Daniella. I can assure you because I know who was. Daniella is not governed by Katy by a longshot because she calls her own shots. Anyway of course she has money to move into the district. She has been working managing her own non- profit for years as opposed to Lynda who was a cleaning lady. That wouldn't afford her the Cava-Levine home. Because Daniella was a successful, well educated businesswoman is a plus not a minus. And She is not Katy.

If Katy isn't the Natasha is... she's got her hoof prints all over this one.

Geniusofdespair said...

Nope not her either. To set the record straight, they were both involved in social issues when Natacha was on the commission and Daniella was at Catalyst Miami. That was a long time ago. Although not enemies they are not friends. They just worked together.

The commissioner in this district should certainly know Spanish because the district is primarily Hispanic. You don't have to speak it like a native but they should at least be able to communicate in Spanish to their constituents.

Some votes, like mayor overrides win by one vote or lose by one vote this is a very important race.

This race is much bigger than District 8. It is about restoring balance to the County Commission. The Mayor has been able to steam roll the Commission with his stupidity way too often.

The Mayor's "Bell-backed Coalition" has caused a downgrade in our financial bonds, a crisis in our library system, underfunding of elections and national ridicule, federal oversight of the Water and Sewer Department, brown-outs at our Fire Stations, a shrinking police force, and a host of other low-brow decisions.

By electing Daniella, change will come. The power on the Board will shift to the more thoughtful commissioners. Come on, be kind, you can name six commissioners who vote their conscience. All we need is a seventh, and the Mayor becomes a hollow figure. (There is no such thing as passing legislation by veto, so seven (7) is the magic number).

District 8, it is in our hands!

If Daniella has money maybe she won't steal from the tax payers like most of the rest.

Didn't Annette Taddao (sp) the head of the Miami Dade Dems and Vice Chair of the FL Dem Party convince Cava to run? I find it ironic that Annette, Cava and Katy all have doctor husbands and Katy & Annette are very liberal. I think Cava is probably as liberal but I don't know.

I agree we must shift the commission. I agree we must increase library funding. I also agree that we should get out of CBO funding/grants and those stupid mom & pop grants. Will Cava work for the community or CBO's? Her group received a lot of county funding. Moss does the same thing with is Perine group. I don't like that either.

Got news for you, county money problems started years ago. The plummeting of home values, over building all done via corrupt politicians. Also true though, stupid banking changes that were initiated under the false belief that every person should realize the dream of home ownership did not help either people. There is plenty of blame all around, with the predominant factor being bcc stupidity. At this point, I'm just saying we need smart people on the commission. If we could fix that part we might have a chance.

Crappy Bell Everglades reso on tomorrow's agenda. Ugh.

Anonymous said...

I can not believe that anyone would continue to support Bell - much less when there is a really viable candidate running against her. If you see Bell anywhere - at your door, in a store, at the library (hah!) - just ask her about all of the things in the blog. All true (from Pink Slime to anti environment) - I sooo wish I could vote in the District - what District 8 voters decide will affect all of us.

Lynda Bell just tried to sneak in an item to the County Commission under the 4 day rule hurting the environment. Thank you Barbara Jordan for pulling it.

Anonymous said...

What item #? What was it?

Anonymous said...

The next commissioner that needs to go is Bovo. We need a candidate with enough vote-getting power.

Bovo can then dedicate all of his time to Dade Medical College.

Anonymous said...

Pepe Diaz is actually the worst. Then Bell. Too bad no one is running against him or at least no one viable to win.
