Andrew Korge: I don't want to like him...but I do. By Geniusofdespair

Andrew Korge at the October 14th 2015 Climate Change Rally and March
Omg even though I am in Gwen Margolis's district I am not in Richardson's District. I am in Geller's district,  Geller is as bad as Ron Silver. Anyway my apologies to Richardson for saying I am in his district. My District was changed. But, I know what Javier Jose Rodriquez is up to -- you would think that Richardson would be keeping voters in neighboring districts informed especially since he has higher aspirations. I know not what he does or Geller. How the hell did he get elected?

Andrew Korge is basing his campaign for Florida Senate largely on addressing Climate Change action in the Senate. He is running for Gwen Margolis's seat in District 35. She is term limited in 2020 but might not run in 2016. DON'T RUN GWEN.  I like her but my God she has been in office long enough. She was born in 1934 which makes her 81. If she serves 4 more years that will make her 85 when she leaves office.  Oh, well, it is her decision to make. If she is missing votes, then she should get out. Andrew is registered for 2020 but is ready to jump in in 2016.

Andrew Korge Marching
Andrew Korge and Rep. David Richardson are set to run for Gwen's seat. David Richardson? He hasn't showed up for one climate change rally neither has that useless Geller. Andrew is at them all. Andrew even spoke at the County Commission Budget meeting when activits were attempting to get money in the budget for Climate Change. Okay, he might have done some polling. We all should know his dad is a well connected lobbyist and money raiser for Democrats.  And from what I read of Andrew's career, it is mostly volunteer gigs. But I could be wrong. I don't really care, he shows up for us and our issues that is what I like about him. And, not all that many of his constituents are there. He just does it.

I was walking with Candidate Andrew Korge part of time during the March.
Anyway, I have spent a considerable amount of time with this guy Andrew. He reminds me of the good Julio Robaina. He is personable -- takes criticism from me very well - I was pretty mean to him about his dad -- and he appears sincere on his desire to be the go-to person in the Senate on Climate Change.

Rep. Jose Javier Rodriguez  managed to get to the Climate Change Rally and so did State Senator Dwight Bullard,  just like Andrew did.

I know more about Jose Javier Rodriguez and have met him dozens of times before and after he was elected (Jose doesn't represent me. ). Where are you  other two Representatives? Perhaps you should try to be more like Andrew Korge and get out and meet the people and talk to them and be a real person and support Climate Change and Sea Level Rise initiatives in Tallahassee. Force the Governor to say the words.

Here is Andrew Korge speaking at the County Commission on Sea Level Rise Funding.

 or watch on youtube

So I am liking Andrew Korge, even though he is not a former anything in politics. He is a force for good on one thing important to me.  And if he doesn't take money from Big Sugar, I will vote for him. Here are his priorities, Income equality is good, Rooting our corruption is always a safe thing to say, but because of his father, hard to swallow. His dad is powerful but he doesn't invoke his name nor lean on him (maybe with fundraising he does) but out in the field, Andrew Korge is a regular guy. Watch the damn video, he makes good points.

Eye on Miami Saturday Editorial Oct. 10: UDB, Suarez, Jordan, Lobbyist Spawns and Hudstead Investigations. By Geniusofdespair

Miami Herald: Your Saturday Editorial Page is a Faux Editorial Page. More than one person in your household? You're out of luck sharing the paper edition. Only one section of news!

PICTURE OF THE WEEK

Marco Rubio conferring with his BFF David Rivera when they were in the Fl. House of Representatives.

COMMISSIONER XAVIER SUAREZ (the X man)

The gala is tonight. I haven't figured out what it is REALLY for but I am going. I heard he was not going to announce his bid for Mayor of Miami Dade County, but then I heard he would. Anyway, the $1,000 table costs will go towards his District 7 account. It now has $106,000 in it. It wouldn't be hard to switch it over to a Mayoral run account, he just has to send letters to the contributors.  If he does run for Mayor, Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner and City Commissioner Marc Sarnoff have threatened to run for the District 7 seat.

COMMISSIONER BARBARA JORDAN'S RICHES OVER THE YEARS:

She dumped the house in St. Pete and the house co owned with her her daughter. It appears she got new cars. She has lost value on the Key West retreat/rental.

THE GWEN MARGOLIS STATE SENATE SEAT

Kris Korge's son Andrew is running for Gwen Margolis' State Senate seat. He has no political experience, except being related to his politically connected father. This is just like Lauren Book running with no political experience. All she has is a politically connected father - Ron Book. Does she even have a college degree?

In a campaign letter Andrew said:

If you support transparency and stronger oversight of lobbyists...

Ahem. Have you ever met your father Andrew? Do you know he has been a lobbyist his whole working life, just like Lauren's father?  What is this, a new trend: Lobbyists spawning politicians?

HUDSTEAD INVESTIGATION

Steve Shiver with one of his X or current wife.

The investigation into the petition began in June. Assistant State Attorney Luis Perez-Medina and Tim Vander Giesen are conducting it with Karl Ross from ethics.

Shiver Family standing at the MCM table.
There are other investigations going on....who can keep up with Hudstead.

MCM constructions was given three city contracts totaling $50 million in the past 18 months. Steve Shiver was their lobbyist. MCM had a table at the sock hop at the race track. The Sock hop was hosted by the track and run by Sandra Nanni of Cutler Bay who is also a grant writer for the City of Homestead.

The racetrack charged Mayor Porter $435 for a gala there. Mario Diaz-Balart paid $2,000 for the same venue. Also under investigation is Jorge Luis Lopez (he is the track attorney).

THE TOXIC UDB MOVING APPLICATIONS 7 and 8 COMING UP

I don't see them going anywhere. I don't think the unreformable majority is a super majority, what is needed now. And, it would be suicide for the Mayor not to veto them. He needs the voters that find this issue important.

Zapata said he was not a sure vote on these. So who do they have for sure, Jordan, Pepe Diaz, Souto, Bovo? Maybe Monestime but he would be a fool to vote for them, it takes money for infrastructure from his district. The tides are turning. The two applications will be heard before the Planning and Zoning Board October 19th. The key is, the County Commission cannot send these up to Tallahassee for review they have to deny them outright. They have never paid attention to Tallahassee's Department (of whatever it is called now) anyway so what is the point of getting their opinion?

Just what we need, a city on the edge of the Everglades. They call it "green" because they think we are fools.
SHOOTINGS

Movie goers, grade school children, high school children, church members, and now college kids (over and over) -- innocent people are killed and the dopey gun lobby thrives in the Repugnant party. They all support lunatics with guns. Yawn. This story is getting old. Soon they will stop reporting mass shootings.

Alex Daoud Politician Gone Bad -- But He Spills the Beans!! By Geniusofdespair

In his book “Sins of South Beach” the former, 3 time, Miami Beach Mayor Alex Daoud talks about the day Lucia Dougherty told him she was leaving her Miami Beach position. Lucia Dougherty was the Miami Beach City Attorney before she was the Miami City Attorney which was before she became a land-use attorney for Greenberg Traurig (where she currently works). Daoud lamented the loss of Lucia as Miami Beach Attorney in the late 80’s. He said:

“I wanted her to stay for selfish reasons, to protect me from politically dangerous votes with her legal opinions. Supported by the right legal opinion, a politician could vote any way he or she wanted with total immunity. A city attorney’s opinion could even save a politician from going to jail, and manipulated correctly, help make him a lot of money as well.”

Sins of South Beach - what a great book written by Alex Daoud. In today's Miami Herald they report he is in a legal tug of war with his daughter over ownership of the house he lives in. He is penniless except for Social Security he says.

Get involved buy his book.  For example he writes about his cousin Chris Korge (calling him a bag man) and just about everything else going on at the time when he was mayor of Miami Beach. You will read about dozens of sunshine violations (we all know go on). It will give you a window into the life of a politician who went really bad but the people who voted for him over and over really liked him, they kept reelecting him (Like the residents of Pepe Diaz's district keep reelecting him). Go figure.

You will learn a lot about government in South Florida, what staff does to help the politicians, law firms, etc. -- the worst of it -- if you read it.  He needs the money and you will become a more informed voter, I hope.  I wrote about this book in 2009 when I read it.

Alex and Daughter Kelly in better days.
I believe we have a dozen politicians in power or running for office now that are almost this bad. David Rivera come to mind?
