Bridge Collapse and No State Attorney Investigation Considered? By Geniusofdespair

Before the bodies were even removed from the rubble Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced there would be no investigation on criminal charges  by her office of the FIU bridge collapse. WHAT????

On March 16th reporter Jim Defede posted on Facebook:

In an absurd development, the Miami-Dade State Attorney @KathyFndzRundle has already ruled out criminal charges in the @FIU bridge collapse that killed six people saying “charges are probably the most improbable at this point.” @CBSMiami

According to a Washington Post story on March 17th, the lead Engineer called the State of Florida  two days before the bridge went down to report some cracking but said he didn't believe it was a safety issue. So how did Rundle know on March 16th there would be no criminal changes? They were tightening cables on a bridge with cracks when it came down. Even I can figure out that sounds pretty stupid.

As for NTSB investigators getting full access, that will be once the search and recovery efforts are done. Sumwalt predicts that once investigators get full access, they will be there about 5 to 7 days.

There are also investigators with OSHA and the FBI’s Evidence Response Team at the site.

Wouldn't you think Rundle would have waited for the results of ALL these investigations BEFORE her announcement.

They only determined the fatalities were 6 on March 18th. So when did the bridge collapse March 15th?  What a quick response timeline for Katherine Rundle - one day - who drags her feet on every other issue. Wonder what her campaign contributions look like? Might have to look at a PAC or ECO to really know. The Munilla's, principals of one of two firms responsible for the bridge, are big contributors to most County Commissioners and I would think just about everyone else in the County.

Hialeah: Grant for Feeding Hungry Kids Turns Into Las Vegas Jaunt for Officials. By Geniusofdespair

Carlos Hernandez, Hialeah Mayor was supposed to go on this questionable Las Vegas trip but no one knows where he went instead. Of course, I have my thoughts on the matter. His calendar blocked out the whole week to go to Vegas, but he wasn't there. Could it be he is having an affair? Only his wife Nancy knows where he was and I guess we will keep it between them because the misuse of funds is more our business, isn't it, not a rumored affair?

How this ever got dismissed is beyond me.

Two years ago, Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez signed off on spending $7,621 from a $10,000 corporate grant for feeding poor children. Instead, the money went to pay for airline tickets and posh hotel accommodations for himself, his chief of staff, a police detective and four other city employees to attend a parks and recreation conference in Las Vegas.

News of Mayor Hernandez’s curious city spending surfaced in documents filed in a recently closed joint public corruption investigation by Miami-Dade’s State Attorney’s Office and Commission on Ethics and Public Trust.

Another strange finding: Hernandez never traveled to Las Vegas to attend the annual conference of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) from Sept. 13-17, 2015, and his whereabouts for seven days remain a mystery.

As Francisco pointed out, the whole damn investigation that cost a bundle led to nothing -- a back page article in the Miami Herald:

Miami-Dade Ethics Commission Executive Director Joe Centorino, a former chief of the state attorney’s public corruption unit, defended his agency’s work.

“I think the inconsistent statements by the chief of staff are pretty well laid out in our report,” Centorino said. “Yet prosecutions for perjury are very rare because it is difficult to prove. Of course, the decision to pursue it as a criminal matter is made by the state attorney.”  (Rundle failure again)

I just got a press release from Katherine Fernandez Rundle:

Miami (August 23, 2017) - As the result of a joint collaborative investigation by the (1) Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Public Corruption Task Force (PC Task Force), (2) the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Office of the Inspector General and (3) Miami-Dade County Public Schools Police, the former Principal of the Miami Jackson Adult Education Center (MJA Center) Joey Bautista was arrested today and charged with:

• 1 Organized Scheme to Defraud – 2nd Degree Felony
• 3 counts of Official Misconduct - 3rd Degree Felony
• 3 counts of Grand Theft – 3rd Degree Felony

Okay kids, these are not even first degree felonies yet you need the resources of 3 different agencies and an informant to arrest this person?

How many Miami Dade County Law Enforcement Officials do you need to make a small arrest? Apparently too many. It takes money and time, arrest some bigger fish guys.

Miami-Dade County Inspector General Mary T. Cagle stated:

“Taxpayers should be outraged when their hard earned dollars are stolen by greedy public officials for their private gain."

I am outraged Mary, but I am more upset that you needed all these resources and spent our hard earned dollars on an investigation that might land the guy in jail for 2 years or even house arrest. With an informant this was a slam dunk to begin with. What did the arrest cost? I bet more than the $41,798.22 he is accused of stealing. Any way: over-kill.

I looked up Joey's mugshot, not sure this is him. I would bet it isn't as I am sure the Miami Dade School Superintendent would frown on face tattoos for it's principals.  Oops, here is the right mugshot. You just can't find accurate mug shots easily. What is happening to the internet?

P.S. "Grand Theft" sounds really bad but it means you stole $300 or more.

 We all know elections are coming up....

I guess we need all that election crap on the outside to fingerprint children.....??? I don't want Justice in motion. I want some arrests. This was seen on Riverday, on the Miami River. I went inside, no one was there but I did get the third degree.

The Mark Bell Absentee Ballot Fraud Case Update from Rundle's office: The two men went to trial April 6th and will appear again on June 8th. They are currently taking deposition from Jorge Luis Castillo's 2 fall guys in the case. The judge is Victoria Brennnan.  How about we get the real culprit who sent them out there to this Homestead family to steal their absentee ballots.

Palmetto Bay Vice Mayor John E. Dubois was seen at dinner in South Dade with none other than Former County Commissioner Lynda Bell and her husband, Mark Bell. Was he asking about the Redinn mortgage on the Redland Hotel? John DuBois, is Mgr. of the Redinn Coporation. Whatever happened to the case having to do with absentee ballots for Mark Bell's mayoral run?

A former city manager in Homestead, before his promotion,  said that the Mayor at the time told him I am your boss you take orders from me. Of course, we all know Hudstead is not a strong Mayor place and the staffer only should take order from the manager.

All those county attorneys we pay (what do we have, a couple of hundred?)  and this case has been going on for almost 3 years against John E. Dubois (is this still the illegally cutting Mangrove Case??), Vice Mayor of Palmetto Bay...

The top Attorney for Miami Dade County, Robert Cuevas, Jr. is retiring. Since they always get people in house, instead of doing a professional search, expect Abigail Price-Williams to take over.
