The gay-hate group, Christian Family Coalition, has this to say about the lifting of the gay marriage ban in Florida (What? you thought he would not have something to say):

Statement from the Christian Family Coalition Florida
Miami, FL (January 7, 2015) – The Christian Family Coalition Florida issued the following statement on Judge Hinkle and Judge Zabel's decisions to overturn Florida's constitutional respect for Marriage as the union of one man, one woman.

Today is a shameful day in Florida history as not one, but two, corrupt judges have presided over the death of democracy in our State by overthrowing Florida's constitutional respect for Marriage as the union of one man, one woman. In 2008, over 8 million voters cast their ballots, more than all the voters who voted in last year's Florida gubernatorial elections, for and against the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment constitutionally defining and protecting Marriage in a legitimate and historic election. Of those 8 million votes cast, an overwhelming majority, 62%, voted "yes" for the Marriage amendment. However, on July 25 and August 21, 2014, Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Sarah Zabel and U.S. District Judge Robert Lewis Hinkle, respectively, ruled Florida's constitutional respect for marriage unconstitutional and threw out the results of the election.

The Christian Family Coalition Florida is deeply disappointed by these illegal rulings, as well as refusals by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States to stay the decision while appeals pend. Although the constitutionally protected rights of Florida voters have been violated, CFC Florida will pro-actively protect pastors, churches, ministries and even Christian-run businesses protect themselves from the intrusion of homosexual so-called "marriage” advocates trying to impose themselves on believers through the force of law.

Vanessa Brito is trying to get Marriage Equality on the State Ballot.  Doing a State Ballot is not an easy task. I was part of the Florida Hometown Democracy effort. We got it on the ballot (it took us 4 years) and then the likes of Wayne Huizenga funded against us with a voter misinformation campaign. So we got it on the ballot and then we were defeated because we didn't have the funds to fight the lies.  Equal Marriage Florida is going to need nearly 1 million signatures (that will give them a cushion as the election departments love to disqualify the petitions). Brito is a co-chair of the group, Equal Marriage Florida -- a new PAC.  I looked up the PAC and could not find it listed yet in the State or County. The National chair is Warren Meyer and the co-chair is Erin Ogletree Simpson.

Brito is banking on that times have changed since the gay marriage ban passed by 62% of Florida voters in 2008.  Thankfully, Brito's Amendment is written clearly and it is short. Nothing is worse than trying to explain an Amendment to Mr. and Mrs. Everybody.

The Miami Herald, reported that the swing voter on the Supremes,  Justice Anthony Kennedy said:

In a positive sign for gay marriage supporters, Kennedy voiced strong sympathy for the approximately 40,000 California children who have been adopted by gay couples.

“They want their parents to have full recognition,” Kennedy said, with evident feeling, adding that “the voice of these children is important in this case."

At the Brown vs. Board of Education trial Kenneth and Mamie Clark's doll experiment was used. I believe Kenneth Clark testified. The Supreme Court specifically cited Clark's 1950 paper in the Brown decision.

Good doll - Bad doll experiment:

In the “doll test,” psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark used four plastic, diaper-clad dolls, identical except for color. They showed the dolls to black children between the ages of three and seven and asked them questions to determine racial perception and preference. Almost all of the children readily identified the race of the dolls. However, when asked which they preferred, the majority selected the white doll and attributed positive characteristics to it. The Clarks also gave the children outline drawings of a boy and girl and asked them to color the figures the same color as themselves. Many of the children with dark complexions colored the figures with a white or yellow crayon. The Clarks concluded that “prejudice, discrimination, and segregation” caused black children to develop a sense of inferiority and self-hatred.

So here we are over 60 years later, thinking about the children.  Are the children of same sex couples looking at their parents non-marital status, with the help of their peers, as inferior and, thus, feeling inferior themselves?  Maybe we should have conducted another doll experiment prior to this trial. But Justice Kennedy's discussion brings up an interesting point about the children: "They want their parents to have full recognition." And, why not? All children want to fit in and be proud of their parents. They don't want their parents to appear as outcasts from society, different.

Now I have hope for this trial.

Gay Marriage: Why? By Geniusofdespair

Bill of Random Pixels posted a video that really got to me. It was the best defense for Gay Marriage I ever saw. The video depicts Romney speaking with an older Gay veteran in New Hampshire. Romney recites his mantra to the veteran a couple of times "Marriage is between a man and a woman" The veteran wasn't buying. Why shouldn't a couple get the same burial benefits whether man and man or man and woman?

It transformed me to listen to this guy after Romney walks away (2:43 on the counter).

I ran into a gay man I am friends with in Costco buying diapers for his aging gay lover (they have been together for the 20 years I know both of them). My friend has been taking care of his partner these past few years as the man's health has taken a turn for the worse.  I believe this man loves his partner as much as I love mine. I myself would be staying far away from adult diapers - love or not. I just don't understand why people can't simply accept how others live their lives. Why are we fighting over such stupid things? To be crystal clear, I am not saying gay marriage is stupid, I am saying that telling someone else what is right for them in their life is stupid.
