2016 Political Beauty Contest Winner |
I picked Larassa Siegel Lara with great thought, not basing it just on her exceptional beauty. I watched this video and I was impressed with her intellect and poise. I met her briefly at County Commissioner Xavier Suarez's fundraising gala and remember she was well appointed dress-wise - very elegant in a demure way.

So I (ME) dub Councilwoman Larissa Siegel Lara the winner of The Eye on Miami 2016 Beauty Contest.
Links to contests in the past...
2011 Winner was Kirsten Jacobs
2009 Winner was Oscar Braynon
2009 Broward: Keith London
2010 was an Ethically Challenged Beauty Contest
2008: Marco Rubio was a candidate! Scott Galvin won.
Why we do our political beauty contest?
Eye On Miami's political beauty contest is not a joke. If we were billionaires, we would build a sports stadium; an arena to distract the public.
As the United States has shown, providing entertainments is as important today as two thousand years ago in the Roman empire.
Lacking funds, an online pageant perfectly fits our time and interest as bloggers. We try the serious route to readers' attention but we don't count on it.
Where substance lets us down, digital imagery holds us up. Our goal might be mis-interpreted. We really do care that elected officials should have the knowledge, preparation, and skills to build, fund and implement policies and programs that protect taxpayers. We do care that civilization does not descend back to savagery.
Along that line, when reality intervenes, we pray to Gods. We set our religions and beliefs against each other. When the Gods do not answer, except for silence; what then? Look good. Smart suits and lapel flags, three hundred dollar haircuts and botox, these investments are a small price to maintain the appearance that elected officials really care the next generations have the same opportunities ours have had. - Gimleteye

Larissa is a thoughtful, measured intellectual. She is extremely impressive; I hope her constituency realizes this and taps into her when they have a concern.
I am honored to serve with Council Member Larissa Siegel Lara. She is an outstanding, witty and thoughtful public servant. Her positive energy makes Palmetto Bay a better place to live, work and play. Congratulations.
She is a shining star and truly dedicated to doing the right thing for her community
Gee I initially got her name wrong...sorry.
Well appointed and she thoughtfully studies issues before voting- we're lucky to have her!
She is cute, but there is nothing wrong with wearing some bright red lipstick every now and then. Can you give me an intro?
I can't believe Sen Rene Garcia is not part of the previous contests, c'mon!!
Rene Garcia? You have to be his wife or someone who loves him dearly. Never going to happen.
Geez. New York City? You are comparing Palmetto Bay to New York City? I do not dislike development in the right places. But, this was not a blog about any of that. She won a damn beauty contest and she has some substance to boot that is all. It is not my concern that you have visions of New York City issues with her at the helm. She is easy on the eyes. You sound like the bagel boy.
I thought about it and removed your comment. Never in the history of Beauty contests have we had anything but congratulations for the winner. Don't need sour grapes. This isn't the time. This is a positive post.
I watched the Palmetto Bay zoning hearing last night just to check her out. What I saw was a very impressive public servant. She was so thoughtful in her questions and so polite in dealing with everyone. Palmetto Bay has a real keeper there with Ms. Lara.
