County Commissioner Arrested in Keys. By Geniusofdespair

Commissioner Pepe Diaz was arrested for DUI and speeding, going 74 in a 30 on his motorcycle, in Key West. So proud of him...

To his defense, he needs a stiff drink and to speed quickly through those unpaved natural habitats that irritate him so much!

He will pray to Jesus, ask forgiveness, get patted on the back from his like minded constituents, then on his way. Heaven help it would happen to a liberal commissioner, be no end to that.

I thought this was a joke at first. OMG! What a great shot to use in a campaign ad!

As they say about the Keys, go on vacation, leave on probation!

It's going to be pretty hard to sweep this one under the rug though he will try!

Pepe can you answer these questions? How many times have you as a sitting commissioner made decisions DRUNK? How many times have you really been stopped in Dade County DRUNK? Would we have known about this DUI if you had been stopped by law enforcement and charged in your District/Dade County? Its obvious you are an alcoholic and need to be in AA? One of my parents were murdered by a drunk driver. Every time I read or hear about a drunk killing someone I weep for the family. No family should go through this. As a public service you need to resign as commissioner because you represent all of us and get your life in check. You are also hurting your family.
A breath machine should be installed on any vehicle you drive. The ignition should not start a motorized vehicle until you breathe into
the apparatus.

The problem with this photo: that he was not arrested under federal corruption charges by the FBI.

Come on, give him a break! Who here among us has not ridden their Harley after a few drinks? This is Key West where the rules are different. And the Eye has clearly violated a cardinal rule of "What happens in Key West, stays in Key West." No fair bringing this north of Stock Island.

At least his alleged offense did not involve nudity. We are all thankful for that!

This is a strong contender for the Eye On Miami story of the year.

People are dwelling on the DUI. What about driving 74mph in a 30mph zone! Talk about 'threat to the public', lots on people on the sidewalks and crossing streets at the time this clown was arrested.

I'm here in the Keys on vacation and Keys radio is mentioning on every news update .
Can't wait to read the story in the paper! Hoping for a witness description of the " failure to engage kickstand, fall to the ground with the Harley " maneuver .

I did some research last year when Mayor Gimenez cut the Parks Dept. budget so much that the lack of mowing made it impossible to use our Kendale Park. I was trying to find out what the Chiefs of Staff and aides to the commissioners were being paid out of their ample office allowance. I came upon this picture of Pepe and his girls on the commission website. He's quite the playboy:

I guess diversity is not required in County Hall.

To everyone casting stones: Make sure you never have even one drink and sit behind a wheel (or get on a bike). It can happen to anyone.

Ms or Mr casting stones now explain away the speeding. Two strikes you can cast stones.
