Homestead: What Evil Lurks. By Geniusofdespair

Why would you change a polling place that many in the neighborhood could walk to? How about because there is a pool table in the middle of the room? That is what I heard from elections. They were wrong, it has been there for 20 years so it is not the pool table. Mayor Porter and Judy Waldman (she said there was a fire in the clubhouse) said there were renovations and a permit issue at the site. Everyone in Keys Gate and North Gate who do not vote at the country club are upset because the polling location is too far and they think they could also have gone to Keys Gate country club because it is huge -- or at the Gateway school -- as it is a big location.  People in Homestead think something is up that is making the elections department so rigid about the location. Is Gimenez involved to help his best bud Lynda?

Part of Keys Gate and North Gate, Homestead's largest polling precinct with about 2,614 is now about half at the Mennotite Church at 30601 SW 162nd Avenue not even in city limits.  There is a special election the 13th of May on the Seminole Theater and the police building that might be build on a Radon plot.  They couldn't wait till August? What kind of dough-heads are governing to hold a special election on two questions?

There was a meeting about all this, I heard Mark Bell, Lynda's Bell's husband was there stirring the pot.  Something is going on.  Let's say that with this change absentee ballots will be more prevalent, thus, more room for fraud.  This really sucks.

I heard Tim Milton a Black Boletera who usually works for Democrats, is harvesting absentee ballots in Homestead.  I am sure James Brady is out there too. Everyone is getting ready for Daniella Levine Cava Race with Lynda Bell in August.

I asked Elections about an update on the James Brady/Mark Bell absentee ballot case. They said it was in the hands of the State Attorney (that means nothing will happen). In any event, call the State Attorney because they love to have the statute of limitations run out on controversial cases. Ask them about the case. Don't let Rundle off the hook.

I heard Mayor for Life Otis Wallace of Florida City is holding a fundraiser for Former Homestead Mayor Steve Bateman legal defense fund. Is everyone daffy out there?

I think you meant the Seminole Theater. The reason they don't want it in August is because people will actually know about it. They are hoping it will pass, no bid contracts within it, because they (Shiver, et al) need the money. If they have a 1% voter turn out, it will be the friends and family plan all approving because they will all financially benefit. The rest of the Homestead residents not paying attention will get a surprise on their tax bill. Commercial property owners will get it the worst. Talk about sinking their own job creators. Unless those job creators are taking CRA funds or now new bond money.

This is the most inept Council in Miami Dade when it comes to their residents. They are the easiest to receive money from and lighting fast zoning approvals.

Homestead sucks!

Wow! And not one Cuban among them!

Cubans learned from the best. We perfected our skills from the Anglo good ol'boys when we arrived in Miami
in the 60's.

By hook or buy crook the referendums will pass. Money is being spent and nobody is listed anywhere as being a contributor for the new police station and for rebuilding the Seminole Theater house.

Making things like voting harder in Homestead is a way of life unless you know Tim Milton. There is hardly any opposition to the higher taxes that will be coming to Homestead because homeowners are at a minority. Homestead is largely a rental community, that is where the votes will come from.

This strategy is smart and with an ineffective and derelict SAO it will continue in the future. The Police Union sent a flyer out promoting both the police station and the theater. City is advertising using public resources. By the time the elections department looks into it it will be 2016 and another statute of limitations will have fallen.

You hit it on the head with Evil Lurks. Anything Goes is also a great moniker.

It's in the drinking water. Fpl puts something in it in Homestead that makes people dumb and complacent.

If OW is having a fundraiser for Bateman that means that Bateman may start singing and OW goes way back decades. I'd say worried is the word of the day in Florida City and Homestead. Criminal Lawyer Ben Keuhne ain't cheap.

Clearly a terrible move closing this polling place. It will backfire on Lynda Bell. This is the same place that banned her from the clubhouse (Polling precinct during elections). The group in this area is smart and will find transportation to the new precinct. Or will AB vote and mail their vote in. Tim Milton and Brady will not be in this area collecting and advising voters. These two have been observed in the Black community recently, collecting AB votes.

Lynda loved the county club. She set her tent ...hmmmm...mark's tent right in front to make sure you can see her lovely self on the way in....

If the old city hall had radon and the police station has radon, wouldn't the seminal theater have radon? Why would they spend millions to use the stadium as a temporary police station then require millions more to build a new station. How about just getting the current station up to standards? Time to give up on that damn Seminole theater, is a waste of money and time. It will not revitalize down town. I am surprise there is no one speaking out against or rallying against raising our taxes. They complain the current station is falling apart, wouldn't competent bldg maintenance and management prevented that? Same goes for the bowling alley and the stadium. They get away with this because no one pays attention until its to late. Even their flyers promoting a new police station has minimal info on it.
