Miss me? By Geniusofdespair

I am still following the news in Florida. Check out the Carlisle article about the County Commission rubber stamp:
What was not disclosed at County Hall was that Carlisle had to sell the four projects because it could not obtain private financing while it was being investigated by a federal grand jury in Miami, according to sources familiar with the agreement.
The county commission’s resolution — sponsored by Commissioner Audrey Edmonson, a favored recipient of Carlisle campaign donations — did not spell out how many millions Miami-Dade taxpayers had riding on the four projects. Nor did her resolution address the fact that Carlisle’s chief operating officer, Kenneth Naylor, and several other company employees were brought on by Atlantic|Pacific to oversee the projects.Indeed, the commission asked only superficial questions, without inquiring about the propriety or terms of the Carlisle deal.

It was a unanimous vote.

The commissioners are not equipped mentally to do due diligence.

The story expresses surprise no tough questions were asked? Come on. That's the Miami way. And why does the strong mayor Gimenez get off the hook? Surely he could have stopped it. Can't wait to see the strong Herald editorial about this - you know demanding the same scrutiny and austerity they exact for public libraries. Lol.

No accountability. Anywhere.

The terms of contracts always change due to unforeseen circumstances. That's exactly why public/private deals should be frowned upon. Public is always sold a bill of good that stinks in the end.

Yes, we do miss you.

"At an earlier committee meeting Aug. 26, she asked Deputy Mayor Russell Benford if the administration backed the resolution. Yes, Benford said, with the 'heightened' requirements for further research and federal approval. There was no other discussion."

Eussell Benford? Wasn't Benford the North Miami city manager who was up to his neck in corruption under the Andre Pierre administration? No one should be surprised by inappropriate business dealing if he is in the mix. Why does Benford have a deputy mayor job at the county after his disgraceful stint as the North Miami city manager?

PublicPrivate run around and round until the IRS, FEDS, or the County property appraiser gets a tip. PPP City of Miami owing Property Taxes, PPP City of South Miami owing IRS Taxes

Some of you folks have a tough time reading, although, I suspect its bias that is really at play. Gimenez clearly stated that his administration wanted and expanded due diligence process as it relates to this issue because of the questions involved with the proposed assignment, and the ongoing investigation of Carisle. Benford also indicated that an heightened due diligence should be performed. Nothing was done, other than approve work to be done on that due diligence. The assignment was not approved, as Edmonson initially wanted. There is an assignment clause in the deal with Carilse, however, the County has the discretion to deny the assignment. They should use it if there are any indications that the relationship here is anything closer than an arms length transaction.

These developers who build low income housing have become rich. Now they live in waterfront mansions. The poor are stored in vertical boxes.

Low income only housing. Scams to enrich greedy developers. No wonder Carlyle and Matt Greer are under investigation.
