GOP House guts ethics panel just in time for Donald Trump ... by gimleteye

They didn't even wait for the Inauguration. Yesterday, Republicans took an axe to the House Ethics Panel and the order created after the last GOP ethics scandal involving former Greenberg Traurig lobbyist Jack Abramoff, after an earlier one involving Newt Gingrich, the first speaker of the House ever charged with an ethics violation.

"Drain the swamp" was one of Donald Trump's beefy talking points to red-state voters who vaulted him to the White House by a mere 100,000 votes in three key electoral states. Even those voters were duped, but buyer's remorse won't do any good now. "Drain the swamp" was a promise already turned into a lie.

We are all spectators at a Great Unravelling of American Exceptionalism until the plan reveals for Trump's first 100 days. In the meantime, consider the reaction to yesterday's news by Gary Kasparov, former world chess champion and now one of Vladmir Putin's bravest critics. On Twitter, Kasparov wrote of the GOP action: "First step, blind the watchers."

I sure hope the Gopers keep 3 branches of Government for the next 8 Years, so they can cock the soup and will have to eat it too. And no more moping up the mess by a black guy afterwards!

And the trickle down class needs to be reminded how what trickles down smells. Formerly known as pee on's.

Well let's see now. Got rid of ethics office before they get started. Interest rates going up, and the cost of money goes up. So the cost of homes, cars, and anything borrowed money buys increases. ACA disappears, and 20 million people left with no insurance. And Trump supporters can't wait for them to get really going. . .

They nixed it for now, but stay tuned, they will bring it up again, in the dark of night, behind closed doors, when no one is watching. That's how they roll.

They nixed it? Who is they? PBS NewsHour made it sound like congress tried to start something in the morning Trump came out and said don't do it and they turned 180° by the afternoon?

For the sake of our nation I surely hope Donald Trump proves me wrong and leads us into greatness. Heck, I wish him so much good luck that hopefully someday as a result of the great things he does for our country he is repaid by having his face enshrined on Mt. Rushmore. Common sense though tells me this impending tweeter presidency will lead us into the darkest political period in American history for as we all know a leopard does not change its spots.

I think donald's point was valid. With record low approval ratings maybe congress attacking there own watchdog committee as their first order of business is a collosally stupid idea. He frame the message better but got the point across. In politics image is everything.
