Florida Power and Light Gives Plenty to the Legislature of Florida. Why? By Geniusofdespair

If what they are doing is so righteous, why did Florida Power and Light (FPL) give $2.3 Million to Florida legislative campaigns (Miami Herald)? They do want a massive rate hike, but...

I imagine they are flooding the legislature with campaign contributions -- to keep you in the dark!

Since growth is the business mantra of our economic system, with out which noting is sustainable, (for the business), it locks to me that since power consumption is about flat, the only growth sector is in the various fees that are added on to the light bill.

It could be different. If FP&L went out front with modernizing the grid & integrating with solar and wind big time, they could equally argue for rate hikes for these new systems provided.

Instead, they probably will go by the way of the horse buggy, eventually.

What would $2.3 million buy if it was integrated with solar? Imagine focusing the $2.3 million on one impoverished area to upgrade and create it as a prototype. Not only is growth the economic mantra, but quick acquisition of the lifestyle of extreme wealth is the target.

With low oil prices it doesn't make any sense to raise electricity prices.

We pay for new nuclear plants at turkey point that probably won't be built, now pay for more rate hikes we don't need. State government is a sewer
