Daisy has been a Village of El Portal fixture for years. She was on the council for 12 years and has been Mayor 3 times. She has a Masters Degree from St. Thomas University. Black worked for the City of Miami for 25 years as a Communications Supervisor for both the Police and Fire Department.
Although County Commissioner Edmonson has $322,989 in her campaign account, it has not discouraged Daisy M. Black from running for the County Commission District 3 spot. She filed her papers December 29th. She did lose her last election in El Portal. She got 45.03% of the vote: 394. The current Mayor Claudia Cubillos got 54.97%: 481 votes.
