Marco Rubio still won't talk with climate change scientists ... by gimleteye

The news media is seeking a way to keep ratings high on the GOP presidential trail led by Donald Trump. Somehow, with just 11 percent support, Senator Rubio is part of an emerging narrative. For some reason, Rubio's foreign policy views are taken at face value by the press. How is Senator Rubio credentialed in foreign policy?

It is frightening to have presidential candidates whose understanding of complex issues is clearly deficient. Rubio is a slightly more articulate version of Sarah Palin: everything President Obama does is bad, everything Obama supports is worth resistance. One place where Senator Rubio's positions are indefensible: climate change.

Eye On Miami repeatedly took Senator Rubio to task for refusing -- over a period of years -- to meet with Florida's climate change scientists. His refusals demonstrate a politician poorly advised and poorly informed by facts and science in the state with the most to lose from rising sea levels.

The King Tide event this week provided a backdrop for an international dialogue in downtown Miami on climate change. Marco Rubio, junior senator from Florida, is nowhere and because he is nowhere and because he had the chance to participate in the climate change discussion over many years but refused, he is not ready for prime time.

Just because he can deliver a talking point well, from the right-wing extremist message machine doesn't mean the press should bolster his visibility without calling to account his refusal to meet with climate change scientists from Florida.

The regular news outlets are totally ignoring the fact that he is ignoring this. The only person calling him out is Donald Trump)

Miami Beach has miles of private bulkheads which might need to be increased in height all at once if the water reaches a public sidewalk or street. A troubling public works project on private property. Rubio is smart to ditch the scientists. He will get his money from contractors who will have to fix this mess. Scientist only want money from grants. This issue has been studied to death.

Also, even the local politicians like Miami Beach Mayor Levine have their own form of denial- pretending the hundreds of millions in adaptation strategies like pumps and "lifting" roads will solve climate change. Until they start talking about reducing carbon, the world is doomed. And it will take several generations to reverse the damage loop we have caused to our oceans and atmosphere. So sorry. Since none of the real conservation work is being done or spoken of, the world will continue to die. It's that bleak.

Marcohiavelli Rubio is far more dangerous than Palin. He is smarter, more sociopathic than Palin. He is consistently underestimated, which is how he became our Senator. His ambition has no moral constraints. People and their possessions (much less nature) are mere objects to be manipulated to his service. Caveat Emptor-Buyer Beware.

If you click your heals and say "There is no climate change" three times the water level will drop.
