Pepe Diaz Has New Digital Sign Ordinance to be Heard Tomorrow First Reading. By Geniusofdespair

Read the ordinance.  This means >>>xxxx<<< putting in, this means <<>> taking out text.

Loving those lights! This Ordinance 4(D) would legalize LED billboards and approve many throughout the County.

This is first reading. If it passes first reading it goes to Committee for discussion and public hearing but if you show up early before the meeting starts there is a good chance you can speak. Wouldn't it be good to kill it early? If it doesn't pass first reading it is dead.

SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT
Regarding the giant raise in your rate:

There will be a public hearing at 9:30 am but there will be no vote, due to an advertising and notice error.

TOMORROW IS A GOOD DAY TO BE HEARD BY THE COUNTY COMMISSION. Go to County Hall. If you don't know where it is: Shame on you!!

Pepe Diaz is being pushed by Clear Channel and Outfront Media FKA CBS Outdoor and others to allow possibly hundreds of obnoxious LED billboards countywide. Massive video screens on poles showing ads to drivers and tourists.

Are we increasing both the numbers and sizes of the existing signs already around the city?

With the exception of that crazy thing that they want to put soaring above the freeway in the city, digital signs are actually more attractive than the old billboards. They are like HD tv screens.

What I don't want to see is a significant increase in the number of signs. I would rather see an ordinance that allows for replacement of the older signs on a one to one basis.

You want An LED billboard near your house so it is lit up all night? Or just near SOMEONE ELSE's a condo?

I'm really surprised the lobbyists haven't used these electronic billboards as a live emergency alert system to bypass all county and city laws. City of Miami should run a streamer of live police dispatch calls on the led billboard. Let's do the 29's from Miami Beach on the side of the screen while have the rest of the screen advertises Tootsie's.

Hey, LED billboard are great educational devices. If Overtown doesn't want the 633' LED tower, I'm sure the City of South Miami will oblige. They could put a 10'x10'x10' fruit stand next to it and really rake in the bucks.

LED billboards are used because they are MUCH more distracting and OBNOXIOUS than regular ugly billboards. Lobbyists are pissing on themselves as they pass out money to County commissioners.

those signs are car accidents waiting to happen.

Come on Sweetwater. Pay attention! Find someone else to be your freaking county commissioner! Send Pepe Diaz back to the private sector to lobby for build boards and water pump manufacturers!

Yup, Pepe Diaz and one of his aggressive staffers really want LED billboards made legal. Clear Channel writing the checks? WTF.
