Raquel Regalado is Running for Miami Dade County Mayor!!! American Dream Mall: Raquel Regaldo Responds to Mayor Carlos Gimenez. By Geniusofdespair

Raquel Regalado announced she is running for Mayor. This video takes a moment to load but worth the wait. I am happy about her running. No more theme park ideas to deal with. If you watch you will see she will destroy him in debates. His head will be tilted (his tell) so far it might end up in his lap.

If you don't see video:
Raquel Regalado on the proposed American (Wet) Dream  Mega Mall in North West Miami Dade County. Scroll to Saurday 4 am.

Post by Raquel Regalado.

Make sure you  watch the damn video. Thank you readers.

Ok, so the mall thing is not real economic development, and mall jobs suck. I get it. But please Ms., Regalado, follow up with a video explaining your plan for creating economically sustainable high paying jobs for Miami.

Past and present county administrations have long neglected public infrastructure, e.g.. courthouse, roads, bridges, water/sewer lines etc. On top of that wealthy developers and sports team owners have gotten deals too good to be true. Raquel seems to have stepped up to the plate to address public money going to these private projects as well as letting the repairs to the courthouse bet bogged down for years.

Raquel talks about training programs for jobs. Watch the video again. She has longterm solutions. Raquel talks fast I suggest a second listen.

If we keep people in low paying jobs we still have to subsidize their jobs by building affordable housing.

POW!! A roundhouse to the political jaw.

All I can say is, EXACTLY. Ms. Regalado has connected the dots and not let a comment slide when it actually highlights this county mayor's true lack of vision.

Turn over the rock and expose the worms.

ALL politicians talk fast.....

While clearly mayor Carlos Gimenez is a textbook example of the Peter principle I'm not sure she is ready for prime time either.

On the other hand, given Carlos started his career as a city of Miami fireman, neither brings any outside education, training or experience to the table which makes the mayor's OTJ training criticism of the challenger a case of the pot calling the kettle black

What a shame neither Carlos Gimenez nor Raquel Regalado have ever met a private sector payroll. Gimenez has managed public sector budgets but novice Ms Regaldo has no management experience. Regalado is a great debater and with more studying she will crush Gimenez. We hope Regalado does not surround herself with thugs like Jack Osterholt.

This is the most exciting match up I have ever seen. The Sparks will fly.

CUBAN SARAH PALIN Fast Talker more of the same politics is the game.

'If you build it, they will not come'...and then taxpayers will have funded yet another public-private loser.

The laughable part of this discussion is that Malls are dying with the suburbs.

I find it insulting sending people away from my blog. Forget the links please. Summarize what you read.

Genius:
You have a history of falling too quickly for candidates. Let's listen to Ms Regalado and to Xavier Suarez and to any and all who decide to challenge Gimenez. We agree that Gimenez has to go, but let's all do our homework so we can cast an educated, not an emotional vote.

The strong Mayor concept has been a failture. It's caused an explosion of opportunists and obliterated the checks and balances of a $6+ billion budget. The County Commissioners are blamed in the media for "kicking the can down the road" when the Mayor's office controls all of the data that they receive and admits to behind-the-scenes deals spanning back a year.

The County needs a professional County Manager along with a Mayor who wants the municipalities, the school board and the county to allign and not operate through law suits.

I hope Ms. Regalado agrees.

I saw her in action at a public hearing recently. She was obsessive In her quest to win her position, refused to listen to those who disagreed with her. Her behavior was almost crazed. Would love to see Gimenez out but Ms Regalado is Not ready for prime time, I'm sorry. I hope Suarez comes through or some other credible candidate.

G.o.D, please note that referring to Ms Regalado as "Raquelita" is not only a term of endearment, it is the way she refers to herself in the Spanish-language community. Her mother, Raquel Regalado, was a very well-known radio commentator and a high-visibility community activist, however she was very controversial.

Raquel needs to slow down the speed of her speech, so that people can digest her points and follow-along.

She is speaking so fast, if she is right, we would never hear it.

Either slow down to fit the desired length of the video or edit out things so she can go at a slower pace.

Is that like "Raquel Palin?"

For those ill intended individuals who are already defaming Raquel Regalado even before she is out of the gate, just keep this in mind. She has not committed absentee ballot fraud; she has not given away our green spaces; she has not destroyed county government by commingling departments with different functions; she has not turned the 29th floor of the county building into the "Price is Right"; she has not placed lackeys in every department so his lobbyists get all the county contracts; she has not closed libraries or talked about cutting mangroves at Crandon Park. No she has not done any of that but Mayor Carlos Gimenez has! Read the Herald article announcing her candidacy and check out the comments by lobbyist/consultant/lackey/ opportunist Rodney Barreto. That should tell you the kind of friends this corrupt mayor runs with.

Ms. Regalado has not defamed county employees for being represented by their union, she has not taken fire boats out of commission and then blamed professional staff for refusing to ignore safety standards (staffing an emergency crew at the sea port.) She hasn't had to be pushed into cooperating with municipalities after creating crisis situations. She hasn't threatened laying off dozens of newly trained police officers shortly after they completed their detailed training. She hasn't washed budgets from bed taxes supporting payment of future bonds through the zoo in order to pay for police salaries. She hadn't forced the library system to use it's carryover budget, after cutting it's annual budget in half, and then determine that is the "new normal" for future years which would have resulting in the waste of millions had the County Commission not intervened.

This is not about Mayor Gimenez's campaign coffer that will bring tons of bullshit commercials - this is personal and this Mayor's misdeeds are believable. Bring on the election!

To the above commentator: yes, Mayor Gimenez is baaaaaad in so many ways. But voters should reserve judgement on his replacement until all the candidates are in and the campaigns begin. We'll have a long time to assess Ms. Regalado.

Anonymous said...

If Gimenez would stop with the stupid behavior maybe Raquel would not have a chance. Sorry Commissioner Suarez, you don't have a chance.

Geniusofdespair said...

I have spent time with school board member Raquel Regaldo. Comparing her to Sarah Palin would be like calling Katy Sorenson Lynda Bell.

I too have wondered if the electorate will have a short memory about this Mayor's "stupid behavior." However, he took thousands of people to a hightened state of false crisis of his own making. Let's see how that is ameliorated by any new behaviors or his spin doctor Communication's Director or his campaign handlers.

I wish she has decided to run for Miami Mayor. Ours is a huge county and she lacks the experience to manage it. Suarez has the wisdom and the experience. He should be our next County Mayor.

People full of crap make assertions with no data to support it.

Links included to provide 'backup data' is scientific, its how the legal system also works, its academic rigor, as opposed to the scientific sloppiness of the Merchants of Doubt who make unsupported assertions.

No one is insulting you by providing a link.

But its your blog, so no more links, but I think you misinterpret.

Geniusofdespair said...

They didn't offer any information to support--- just 3 links. When you just put a link to another blog how does that do anything but get people to go to another blog. I said: summarize what they are saying first. I don't write everyday to give bloggers who write every few weeks advertising for their occasional work. They aren't linking to me.

Geniusofdespair said...

Someone near the top provided links in the right format, as backup. I did not erase those. Learn the difference.

great, another Hispanic mayor! Are there no other candidates? She will be in bed with the LBA soon enough

What the hell is she talking….the role of government is not to follow the private sectors lead ??

Carlos Gimenez has advocating for demolishing the newly renovated Bicentennial Park so he could give it to David Beckham for a mall and part-time soccer stadium. Gimenez still wants to fill in the FEC slip. The dude lets the Miami Heat treat Parcel B like a dump site.
