The Jeb Bush I know … by gimleteye

Politico has an in-depth analysis of Jeb Bush as governor, examining the Terry Schiavo incident. The same qualities observed by Bush's critics apply, with his actions on the environment.

“He doesn’t accept loss. He doesn’t accept that the answer is no. He couldn’t possibly consider that he may be wrong,” Wasserman Schultz said this month. “If he had the chance to be president, he’ll do what he’s always done—he’ll do everything he can to implement his very rigid, ideological view of how the world should be. Voters are going to have to ask: Do you want a president who thinks the executive, the president, is supreme, above all else? It’s frightening to think about what he could do with that kind of power as president.”

“Trying to write laws that clearly are outside the constitutionality of his state, trying to override the entire judicial system, that’s very, very dangerous,” said Arthur Caplan, a New York University bioethicist who edited a book about the Schiavo case. “When you’re willing to do that, you’re willing to break the back of the country.”

“It was appalling,” said Jon Eisenberg, one of Michael Schiavo’s attorneys and the author of The Right vs. the Right to Die. “And I think it’s important for people to understand what Jeb Bush is willing to do. It’s important for people to know who Jeb Bush is, and the Terri Schiavo case tells us a great deal about who Jeb Bush is.”

On environmental issues, Jeb was a micromanager and it was "my way or the highway". He acted through his loyal lieutenant, DEP Secretary David Struhs, and instructed Struhs to lie about his plans for accommodating Big Sugar through the destruction of the Everglades settlement agreement. Worse, on other sensitive environmental initiatives, he put his agencies under lock and key and refused to communicate with any who dissented.

The notion that he is somehow softened and more moderate? Pure spin. Unfortunately for his presidential ambition, Jeb Bush is rigid, unwavering even when presented with facts, and will force facts to fit his own predetermined outcomes. This isn't speculation: it's history.

For a second, I thought you were describing George W. Enough of Bush and Clinton dynasties. There must be someone else with enough political knowledge to lead this country.

Jeb Bush destroyed Education. Let' not leave that one out. Charter schools with no standards. holding everyone with that non progressive low level FCAT. His sidekick Marco Rubio has not done one thing for the state he was elected to represent. Marco Rubio said on MSNBC that Jessie Helms was his mentor. Are these truly the people we want in office? We can do a lot better as a country.

And speaking of education, did the people vote to limit class size but Jeb wasn't happy about that so he simply ignored what the people wanted and did what he wanted to do--nothing.

He destroyed the whole public education system in FL and the k-12 education of a whole generation of Floridians. All just to make money for himself off of high stakes testing.
