Mayor Carlos Gimenez: Rumor has it...By Geniusofdespair

I got a nice holiday card from Mayor Carlos Gimenez and his wife. His PAC or ECO paid for it, I think it is called "Blatant PAC Attack for Reelection" or something like that. It went out to White and Black Super Voters of both parties (4's and 5's - which means they voted in 4 or 5 of the previous 5 elections).

The rumor: Hispanics didn't get a card. I would have to do a public records request of the mailing list to find out for sure but it doesn't come from the campaign finances of the Mayor so I don't think I can. Besides even if I did a request, it would cost me a zillion dollars. So it remains a rumor. Don't you just love blogs, scads of rumors waiting for your confirmation.

Thank you for the card Mr. Mayor. You both looked fabulous. Why no cute grandchildren? I searched the garbage for the card but too many coffee grounds. Repulsed.

Spoke too soon -- spouse (a different party than me) had kept a copy:

I'm a Hispanic Democrat super voter and I didn't get a card. I would never vote for a Gimenez. And never did in the past. I'll never forget the lies and chicanery he pulled when he tried to close half the public libraries and defund the library system. Nor the bs he engaged in trying to give away Museum Park to Beckham. I can see through the scam of hiring a democrat as his spokesperson.

Very stiff upper lip.

What type of torture device is mounted on the wall behind the couple?

In the garbage with coffee grounds? Please try to recycle paper. Coffee grounds can be composted. Old habits are hard to break, but it's a new year, so give it a try.

I am a "5" voter. I got the postcard. Cheaply printed on cheap paper. Straight to the garbage can. Gimenez is bought and paid for by lobbyists, especially billboard lobbyists, the Heat lobbyists and that cad David Beckham... Total stooge.

I am an Asian American and the Mayor did not wish me a happy new year 😢

I think its vulgar. Especially since proper etiquette dictates the use of Mrs in front of the wife's name:

"Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Mrs. Lourdes Gimenez"

She is no slouch as a asst. superintendent of schools so not putting the Mrs. is rude.

Coffee grounds are actually great fertilizer. And yes, for shame on paper in the garbage, I hope you were just alluding to not being able to find it.

The attitude towards recycling in Miami boggles my mind. My wife, who works at a huge national company headquartered here, was made fun of by coworkers for recycling! My company rents from one of the largest commercial real estate providers in S FL, Pro Logis (not sure what they are called these days), and I have to take the office recycling home with me.

I am a non-hispanic super voter and I didn't get a card. But then, I have a hispanic last name so they may have been confused. I don't vote for him, never have, never will.

I'm a non-Hispanic super voter, registered NPA and did not receive a card.

You can make the public records request to the elections department directly.

Perhaps there was another criteria other than super voter. I too am a super voter, vote in EVERY election, and did not get a card.

I am a super voter and I did not get this card. Maybe he only sent it to a handful of dangerously informed people.
