Lynda Bell a Cloud over Miami Dade County. By Geniusofdespair

According to a reliable source, Lynda Bell is now on the Miami Dade school board thanks to Governor Rick Scott.  Trying to get confirmation. She replaces Carlos Curbello. She does not live in the district. Lawsuit anyone? Hope it is just a rumor.

I confirmed for now that Carlos Curbello has not resigned. So I would call this a rumor even though Bell is lobbying for the position and I have 3 confirmations.

Don't call me "dear"

I, too, heard she was lobbying for the position. Heard it from a school board member about 3 weeks ago who talked about the "ifs" - if Scott won re-election and if Curbelo beat Garcia. How reliable is your source?

When Feldman ran against Greer for his school board seat, his house was not in the district so he rented an apartment and used that address for his home. It was a big issue at the time. I would suspect Bell will do something similar since she heavily supported Feldman back then and probably still does today. The irony.

She was the only GOPer who got truly trounced this year. Scott doesn't need to get re elected, so hopefully he'll find someone actually qualified with a college degree and/or teaching experience for the position.

Given the John Thrasher appointment at FSU this fits right in with Scott's "no hack left behind" policy.

Where and to whom in Tallahassee would one send comments?

I know one group who would love to see her appointed, union organizers.

Her anti-labor position sparked a huge bump in union enrollment which ironically cost the party her seat on the BCC..

Can she afford to rent in this district? This ain't Homestead.

While no one could doubt that Bell wants another political office desperately, I find it hard to imagine that Scott would waste this slot on her. There are a number of former or soon-to-be former Republican legislators in town that would be better choices and who would have closer ties to the Scott administration and political network. I'd suggest that the path to a nomination for that seat runs right through Carlos Lopez Cantera's office.

I'm sure Scott can find a housekeeping job for Bell in the Governors Mansion. Greyhound buses can take her and her whole family too!

If Ms. Lynda Bell is appointed to the school board seat. I can assure you she will begin her reign of terror again. Every school employee will need to join a union. Her daughter who is a cop will join school police, her husband will work as a plumber in maintenance and the other daughter will work as an administrator. Carlos Cantera do not encourage this appointment I am sure you have a lot of friends qualified that will provide us good representation for our children.

Just spoke to a reliable source that she is also being considered for a spot on the governing board of the water management district , one of the representatives from Miami dade county is expected to step down in January .

The board member that is stepping down and will not be reappointed is Juan portuondo he officially leaves in March but Lynda bell is going to be his replacement of that happens this is going to be catastrophic and the worst possible scenario for south florida and the everglades

When was the last time Lynda Bell was in a classroom teaching? This is a nonpartisan seat! This job is for someone who will look out for the wellbeing of our children and teachers and taxpayers, and one who has a record of doing so. What does she know about educational policy? What qualifies her to be a School Board member?

Bell on the Water Management Board? OMG, now that I would believe and also believe it would be a disaster for that Board.

Lynda Bell representing District 7 on the School Board is going to give Jose Luis Castillo the "in" he has always wanted there. Remember, he ran for the District 7 seat years ago. While a previous poster called the seat "non-partisan," that, while technically correct, disappeared in reality years ago. Remember that it was the Republican Party who included Curbelo in its absentee and slate efforts in his narrow School Board victory over Libby Perez.

The only good decision of Lynda Bell's was to oppose overpaying and over benefitting government employees. She realized that taxpayers cannot pay massive pay and benefits to public sector employees. The vast majority of County employees are overpaid.

Scott has already gutted SFWMD. Bell there representing the interests of the Homestead contingency that oppose important aspects of Everglades Restoration would be a perfect ally for Scott to claim she is only advocating for her peeps, but of course not all of them. This would be a horrible turn of events for the completion of CERP projects in Miami-Dade. This know nothing of anything but Tea Party evil, much less of Hydrology,Science, or water management policy, would be disastrous for us who want not just preservation but also restoration. But she just might be Scott's girl. How well did that work out for Gimenez?

Bell on the school board is that a joke from Saturday night live ? She has the IQ of a house plant (and that's a disservice to house plants) she has the integrity of Boss tweed. The political moral compass of the robber barons.
Mr. Superintendent better watch his back if she gets on the board She will pat him initially on the back but in reality she will be searching for soft spot to plunge in the knife.

The dumbing down of education and a return to the bad old days of the school board. Please say it's not true!

Maybe it's a ploy to get parents to pull their children from public school and sign them up for charter and private schools .. A plot by the Charger school lobbyists . Why else would anyone in their right mind appoint Linda Bell to anything especially anything having to do with setting standards and policy in regard to educating our children?

Someone close to Scott needs to give him a reality pill and warn him.
Come on Bell on the school board it has got to be a joke ! She and her husband need to ride off into political retirement.
