Do County Commissioners Talk to Each Other? By Geniusofdespair

Of Course they do. All they have to do is announce it. You could have heard Sosa and Moss talk about the proposal for a Black History Museum on September 4th. Tomorrow you can go hear Sally Heyman talk to Commissioner elect Daniella Levine Cava. You can attend most sunshine meetings. Cava told me all of the appointments with Commissioners she is setting up are sunshine meetings. She wanted to meet each Commissioner to get to know them and their issues. Speaking of issues, is there anything you think she should ask any of the Commissioners? Nothing stupid people, serious stuff.  Leave a message here and I will forward it to her.

This website is a good place to look, to see what is brewing.

By the way Lynda Bell and Juan Zapata are blaming Gimenez's scare tactics with the unions and "worst case scenario budget rhetoric" for her loss against Levine-Cava (at the Commission Meeting September 4th about 9pm). Gimenez was pretty cordial to Bell but downright rude to Zapata. Feud growing. Note to Lynda and Juan: That is not why she lost. I can give you about 25 or 30 reasons.

The Suarez - Zapata capping of salaries to match Federal attorneys pay was killed. Then the 2%, 4%, 6% salary cut for employees who name over $100k. $200k, $300k was killed - too simplistic or it wasn't a serious move since there was no publicity for this motion?

Cava Heyman meeting at my house.

How the hell do I know. You have the link at top ask. I would assume at Sally Heyman's office. Sitting in on a sunshine meeting doesn't mean you can talk. You can listen.

Usually when the commissioners have Sunshine meetings they are held in the conference room where the commissioners have their offices in the government center, 2nd floor.

Ahh, Poor Lynda... Hope Daniella is watching her back.
Giminez is busy redecorating too. Please do everything humanly possible and of course legal to keep Bell and her team of buddies out of work. Hopefully Giminez will be in the lay off line soon, according to the effort I see on Face
Book. He and office buddies have done their fair share to slander the efforts of the only honest work happening in Homestead in decades. But then it is Homestead....

was wondering how long before we start bashing Lynda again.

There are so many serious issues. I think she should ask each commissioner what they think are the two most important issues that the County should address in the next year. She might also ask whether there is any legislation that they have been thinking about, what obstacles they have run into, and why or why not they have not moved on it. She can also ask what - in a non-political world - they would do to address the issue of increasing inequality and degraded quality of life that many Miami Dade residents are experiencing. Basically - she needs to get a handle on who are allies on what issues - and how she can work with them on those things they have in common. So happy she is doing this. This woman does her homework - and we will all benefit from it.

Please ask Daniella to find out if one of the commissioners is working on setting up a veterans' court, I heard a rumor that might be the case and I would be very interested in getting involved in that.
