Resorts World (Genting gambling) and David Beckham Using the same lobbyist by Geniusofdespair

T. Spencer Crowley of Neisen Kasdin's firm is the open lobbyist for Resorts World. Does anyone else find that odd if the Beckham soccer complex is not to include gambling?

Something is so fishy here. It smells worse than the sewage facility on Virginia Key.

Not at all. I would expect the Beckham group to only hire the best.

Oh wait, you think all this political cheerleading is about a couple dozen soccer games a year?

LOL, you should work for the Herald.

Kasdin forever ruined Miami Beach.

When you at EOM get funding for a Museum of the Great Destroyers, Neisen Kasden should get one of the first plaques. I'm sure he would be honored.

I'm not surprised. I would be surprised if they were using someone else. This is not about soccer. It's about basically stealing our public waterfront land which the elected's should not cow tow to. Put the damn stadium away from the water where the fans are out west. This is just such bullshit. I started to dislike Beckham, now I just cannot tolerate one more press conference with sleaze bag mayor or BCC members who are not representing the best interest of our community.

Enough of this already. Anyone who thinks this is about a stadium just isn't paying attention. The stadium is ancillary to what these people really want. More waterfront land for hotels, casino's or other types of commercial development blocking our public views and last swatch of open land.

The BCC and Mayor should be in jail for theft if they pass this or one more Heat/Dolphin deal which are both on the sidelines.

Why the surprise? After MLS fails yet again, what do you do with an empty waterfront stadium?

I actually like the plan shown in the herald with all the new waterfront parkland. the only thing I don't like about it is the stadium building. remove that and do the rest.

They did a phenomenal job with the new renderings and I'm against the project. The public is so gullible.

The idea that they are going to build a hotel in Museum Park is ridiculous. I would have much rather the stadium at the port, but I am in favor of activating the area.

The park we are getting is not the park we were promised. Would it hurt to put some fountains for the kids to play, a dog park or something similar. We need public space but we also need public space that is inviting for use. If the park stays the way it is, it will be empty by 7 and in a few years the only people going will be the homeless (see parcel b).

We cannot rely on the city to deliver on what they promised. Maybe the private sector can. The idea of the wall for movie in the park type of activity is hard to argue with.

It is because he is one of the best Land use Attorneys in the City of Miami. He's also on Citiplace and a dozen other condo/commercial projects.

Do you think someone is going to spend $250,000,000 on a soccer stadium and then tear it down to build a casino? Me thinks you imaginations are getting the best of you.

P.S. Genting and Sheldon Adleson are pretty much sworn enemies.

No I think it will be added...there is a stadium AND HOTELS and who is to say the stadium cannot be built up to house a casino below -- like the stores on the first level of the Marlins stadium that I assume are all empty....

The renderings already include retail. I guess it could be converted to a casino, but my point is that they already have storefronts incorporated so it would not add to the proposed structure.

Im against casinos, but that is whole other discussion.

They fooled everyone once with the promise of a park (anyone remember the campaign to approve the AA Arena - it was failing till they illustrated a park on the plan rederings). Please - for goodness sake - not again! Public parks and public access to the waterfront are simply not on their agenda.

Nah Genius. Im just a downtown resident that is trying to look at this thing objectively.

I have an 8 year old and use bay front park a ton. I am in favor of parks, but would like to see them with much more than just open space. If the park is not activated somehow, it will not be used (lots of history to support that).

The plan, if accurate, extends the bay front. As it stands, what is happening at parcel B is a shame. I would enjoy the extra park space.

Parcel B is a public park. Just build the bridge that was promised and even funded. Just because they failed to build the bridge is no excuse to destroy the public park land and the aquatic preserve to give it to Beckham and his investors.

Casinos. People are saying Beckham and his handlers are including banquet facilities, retail stores and a ballroom that will be converted into a casino. Beckham works for casino billionaire Adelson of the Sands Casinos. Duh.

FYI, I believe Spencer Crowley is no longer an attorney for Genting. He and Neisen Kasdin have not been representing Genting for several years-I believe they may have resigned from the account. I think Genting is now represented by Bilzin, etc.

Spencer Crowley has a conflict-of-interest. He is on a State Board that gave tax money to pay for the new sea wall and bollards that surround Bicentennial Park. Now he is trying to destroy those multi-million dollar improvements? I would hate to see Crowley get a Bar complaint filed against him.

All of his lobbyists are Genting lobbyists. Brian Ballard is his Tallahassee lobbyist also

Spencer Crowley is still listed as open .

Spencer should be ashamed of himself. Worse, someone might file a complaint with the Florida Bar.
