Ana Rivas Logan is a Democrat as of Tomorrow. By Geniusofdespair

Rivas-Logan was on the school board from 2004 to 2010 and 1 term as a State House Member. She was targeted by the far right of the Republican Party.
"The GOP of today is not the party I joined; it's not the party of my parents," said Rivas Logan. "It's a party that has been radicalized and held hostage by a group of extremists. It's a party that attacks women and minorities — and one that asked me, and my former Hispanic Republican colleagues in the Florida legislature, to turn on their own people by supporting extreme anti-immigrant policies. It's a party I was no longer proud to be a part of."

Welcome Ana. I applaud your change. Your party F--ked you.

What's wrong Ana the Republican Party will not support your run against Lynda Bell? So now you are a Democrat. These GOP loyalist need to STOP IT and stay in the GOP and get rid of the problems you have. You will do and say anything to hold public office. Ana Rivas Logan I have known you for a long time and your views have not changed. You are a whack job in my opinion. Conservative and right wing. What office will you run for now? Remember you have a voting track record.

Wow, Lynda's pissed: the same post twiced!

Now Lynda is nervous. Rivas Logan who I am truly not a fan of pissed of the GOP so badly they ran an extremist against her who won. Rivas Logan can easily beat Bell. I don't know about Cava though.

More and more republicans are going to jump ship. Their leaders are crazy. They have no vision; no new plan to move us forward with 21st century problems and issues; they follow old failed strategies and policies that everyone knows by experience won't work; they want to hurt people rather than help others; they actually expect people to vote to hurt themselves; and they are against most segments of the population in America. We welcome you and your constituents to the party, we have a huge tent over here and there is lots of work to move us forward in this century.

As a woman leader it is very important that you understand that we are preparing for a major push for women to assume their rightful places in our elected bodies. By our calculations looking at all indicators including who votes, women both Democratic and Republican, should control all of our elected bodies. By their numbers alone they should not be the exception, but the rule. If that were so, for example, in Congress we would not be facing another government shutdown because we know women would take care of business for the country.

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Take your shoes off and get comfortable!

2014 is getting more interesting by the minute. I bet the Miami Dade Dems are freaking out that Ana might run in District 8 since they already laid their eggs in another basket. It's too late for her to run for a state seat because of the 1 year party thing the GOP put in to place.

I don't care if she is as dumb as a house or if she flip flops on every issue. I think she is a hottie.

I remember when you thought Ana Rivas Logan was despicable. It is amazing how standards change when someone has a "D" next to her name.

I love people who quote me like I don't know what I said. I am not a solid brick. I change when things call for it. I even felt sorry for Natasha when Lynda treated her with disrespect.

If Rivas-Logan runs for District 8 watch out for a back room deal, she splits the anti Bell vote with Cava and Bell slides in.

She can run for a state office as NPA and not have to wait a year. HD 115 (Bileca) would be a good one.

Very interesting comments. Another blog posted a few months ago that Rivas Logan was considering switching to the Dems. If there's a back room deal for District 8, it will involve making sure Bell doesn't make it through a primary leaving Rivas Logan and Cava. Bell will not slide in anywhere except her fenced in house where she needs to stay.

This is what happens when you have incompetent people running a party! Has Ana Rivas Logan (sounds like a contrived novela name, btw) been vetted by the party leaders who now tout her graces? Don't they know that she's the Christian Family Coalition's anti-gay, anti-choice, pro-charter school darling? She used to LOOOOOOVE Rick Scott, called Frank Cobo horrible names when she ran against him because he's gay.

I think the GLBT community needs to take offense at Taddeo-GOLDSTEIN's exhuberant media blitz in favor of Logan - or is it Rivas?

She won't run in District 8. She's preparing to run in her old school board district once Curbelo resigns to qualify in July for Congressional seat 26. Just watch.

Oh, and geniusofdespair, really?!!! wow

She picked up most of Crist's talking points. Good girl Ana. What will your reward be?

how can anyone trust a politician who puts their ambition above their values?
is there so obviously little difference between the two heads of the beast, other than the letters on the title--that people cheer and gain respect for someone when they switch to the "right" side?
it looks like every side in this game is wrong for the public.

Let's be clear. Not everyone in the Democratic tent is pro homosexuality. There are many people who are not. But there are many, many other issues that Democrats address and that we can agree on. That is why our tent is so large.

Crist will pull many others out of the GOP here in FL and around the country.

Love her. Her only issue was the Palmetto Bay crazy she had working in her legislative office.

Lets see do I take the Blue Pill or The Red Pill.....Do I poke a man in the arse with my tally-wacker or do I poke a woman....Do I register Repub or Dem ........Coffee or tea.......decaf or regular.... cheese or no cheese...... great taste or less filling....hmmmmm life is full of choices. Politicians always want to have it both ways (Charlie Crist), menage a tois anyone?

Congratulations, Ana Rivas Logan. Your decision demonstrates a soundness of mind, and a desire to continue to participate in party politics. This should be a choice that sets things in motion for you long-term. There is no need to immediately run to represent the Democrats. Supporting some Democrats in the upcoming elections will be very welcome. Let the Dems embrace you over time, based on your actions. So far, this public transition is a great hit. Build on it, but take your time.

You know, that is a question that I have often wondered about. How can recent immigrants who barely speak English, be against immigration reform?

I love it when geniusofdespair fights with the readers.

Seems she just wants to be elected, ...to anything.

ana, congrats for having the guts to say what you have said. jeb bush, himself said, that the GOP has become the party that hates every group out there. they have pissed off everyone! what a thought

Anonymous said...

omg so true! the GOP is anti-everyone

I I hate fighting with the readers but sometimes they just are so stupid I can't stand it. They think they are so clever. After doing this for 6 to 7 years I'm so used to these idiots but they still drive me crazy. You work for free you don't want to be abused. I I am glad they made up their minds for their lifetime and will never change. I just don't understand how dumb it is that people never grow and never expect to or want to change.

SORRY I DON'T LIKE TO TAKE LINKS I DON'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT. I really don't like people adding links.

To whomever it was above who said something about primaries for the County Commission, there are no primaries for County Commission seats. They are non-partisan. At least they're supposed to be.

She could have easily remained an R and run for CoComm.

Anonymous said...

She was a bitter, crappy R candidate now she'll be a bitter crappy D candidate.

Anonymous said...

And never you mind that she just realized in February 2014 that the Republican party that she so dearly embraced, including campaigning for Mittens who was anti-immigrant as could be until the very end, and kissing up to Darth Vader Scott - is mean, and radical, and just plain bad!

I agree with all the posters who say she's running for something soon. Only time will tell

I don't care if she picked up Charlie Crist's talking points; I am going to vote for him, too.

She is young, she has many, many, many experiences to come, and with each new experience will come change. . .
