Logan's Run...Her End Run Around Miami Dade County. By Geniusofdespair

(link if you don't see video)
If you didn't like Anna Rivas Logan before you will hate her after watching this 4/29 discussion about HB 307. The bill would reduce the number of single-member districts of school boards from nine to seven and add two at-large seats in counties with populations of 2 million or greater. Miami-Dade is the only county to which this bill will apply.

It appears there is only one county Orange County (out of 67 counties) that is doing this type of at-large seats out of all the school districts in the state of Florida. This bill is targeting to Miami Dade County. Rep. Dwight Bullard in this discussion, is trying to get to the fact that there can never be a black minority leader of the School Board if the head of the School Board is only chosen from at-large candidates. Logan keeps reverting back to that "Hispanics" are a minority even though they number about 62.5% which makes Hispanics the majority (she said there was an 82% minority in the County) of the County's population. The census says 77% white persons (I guess they included whites and Hispanics, as there are only 17.6% white non Hispanics.) She contends that there can be a minority leader (she is counting Hispanics not just blacks in her definition of minority). Logan is being disingenuous and answering snidely in my view. It is very revealing in part 2. Unfortunately while switching I lost a bit of good dialogue where Bullard asks about Miami Dade County electing blacks Countywide and she brought up Obama when Bullard was obviously talking about local offices. When she says "Obama" she does it with a smug look and then a big smiles, like she is saying "I got you." Here is Part 2: (Link if you don't see video).
Steinberg asks Logan, why didn't you let this get done locally. Very good question Ana...but a very bad answer.

I'm interested in why you think "at-large" seats would be good for the County Commission, but not good for the School Board.

Or is it just that her perceived disingenuous argument was what turned you off to her Legislation?

Additionally, Hispanics do not make up 75% of Miami-Dade County.

That is what I remember them saying in the video...75%. I want a couple of at large in the county because I don't care that they will be Hispanic I want someone beholden to me and the LARGER issues facing the county. I don't like the way Logan is conducting herself here more than anything else, including at-large members, which I am not against. Her legislation says the chair can ONLY be chosen from at- large member, I have a problem with that. And I have a problem that she is not letting this get done locally.

Classic cae of biting the hand that fees her. Sh occuies the job as "educator" to pay her bills and advance her political career. A little about ARL: she is not a true education adminstrator, She is proportedly an assistant principal, but certianly has spent little if any time at workm especially thanks to direct deposit, she doesn't even have to stop by and pick up her pay check. She is obsioulsy a self-loather who is in the game to do what she is told and breaj up the entire system she works for and sell if off to the highest campaign bidder.

Where is the concern for the children? We are soon to have third world privately run child warehouses, aka charter schools. All the great countries have diverse schoool systems.

It is no wonder that the school system is going into the crapper when we have adminstators like ARL guiding it around the bowl.

But then again, maybe ARL gives good reason why people say we have far too many assistant principals. She obviously can afford not to be at work and in Tallahassee.

You know what they say, no one is safe while the legislature is in session.

We have the government we deserve. She is a nincompoop and the damage these idiots are going to do will take years to undo.

Ana Rivas Logan is all about Ana. She's a power hungry want-to-be leader at the beck-and-call of the Republican hierarchy. This freshman is doing as she is told in hopes of garnering support in her ascent up the political career ladder. The Republicans want full control of the Miami-Dade School Board. It's that simple. There is no way anyone other than a well-funded Hispanic Republican can win a countywide seat. There is no such thing as a non-partisan race in Miami-Dade County regardless of what is printed on a ballot.

What an embarrassment this Logan. She was annoyed and couldn’t answer substantive simple questions regarding her own bill. What a joke

Can she be recalled?

Isn’t she the one that Ralph Arza funded and got elected to the school board? If so, that should answer it all about this lady.

In my opinion, we need to stop focusing on recall and start working on getting the vote out, having intelligent dialogues and debating the pros and cons of the issues.

I have real concerns about disenfranchisement of minorities. It is disingenuous to throw around our census numbers. If she wants to defend her idea, she should defend it with meaningful statements.

The limitation of chair and vice chair is complete nonsense. Am I over analyzing this, or was that poison pill put in there so that the thing would never pass? Why would they add that?

To anon above, the whole bill is complete nonsense.

Why isn't Logan in your politician beauty contest. Wow!

Because EOM is not accepting “dumb (fake) blonds” into that category this year.

Not totally on subject here, but has anyone else seen the mail piece with Norman Braman's endorsement of Xavier Suarez for District 7?

So much for Braman being for Ethical Good Government.

Rest assured that if the bill passed, there will be a Voting Rights Act lawsuit. I know you hate Stephen Cody, but he forced single member districts on the school board in the 90's. He or someone else would probably bring a suit against the School Board all over again.

How in the hell do people like her get to were they are? We(You) deserve what you voted for.

Wake up, this bill was intended to create a cushy leadership position for a legislator being termed out and the mastermind was DLP. I guess the timing wasn't right, esp with the immigration fiasco and he bailed out, leaving ARL hanging.

She is good looking. Is she married? In a relationship?

I have a ne respect for Bullard. He was good in the video.

This is amazing. I know for a fact that Logan is one of Bell's best friends, as well as Feldman.
Logan is such a good friend that she campaigned heavily for her when she ran for the Mayor of Homestad and again when she lost.

She was rude, rude, rude to everyone at the polls who were not a Bell supporter.

I also know for a fact that she will say anything you want to hear as long as it benefits herself or her friends.

No wonder they are so devoted to each other!!!
