NIMBY People I am getting sick of you! by geniusofdespair

Nimby means: Not in my backyard. I am angry this morning, watch out, I have a bug up my ass!

Many people support more development and more people for the County BUT not where they themselves live. Some cities are up in arms over the Watershed Study. The communities are saying: Send those masses somewhere else in Miami: Your neighborhood not mine. Well guess what people, we are running out of neighborhoods to send people. The City of Miami is not the dumping ground for everyone -- have you seen the Sarnoff Landslide? The people there are saying: "ENOUGH ALREADY." Readers, you elect the same crappy commissioners that fix your potholes but do not address the problems of growth management in the entire community. Most of the Commission wouldn't recognize good land-use planning if they were hit over the head with it with a sledge hammer. Instead they lick the boots of developers and kiss the asses of those shitty lobbyists that promote growth without a conscience. Just look at what Gimleteye wrote today: Barbara Jordan is making it optional for developers to participate in setting aside affordable units. Gimme a break!

To all you stupid Nimby people: The Community is your problem too. You can't just sit around sipping your cafe con leche or your Latte and complain when problems face your neighborhood because every neighborhood is facing them. You become the problem when you only look at it from within your selfish little bubble. You have to do more then complain when the problems hit your neighborhood. We are ONE big giant neighborhood, help us all. Don't let the Herald break us up into those Neighbor's Section, neighborhoods. Did you know that Coral Gables has it's own section now so they can read about other rich people and not be burdened with the problems of the poor surrounding them.

Share the burden. If you all hate density so much -- tell ALL the Commissioners. Tell them you don't want to grow without infrastructure in place first for the whole of the County. I don't care what you tell them -- as long as it is not Nimby crap. Be heard. Vote for the Strong Mayor. Do your part somehow. I just ask you to think in the larger framework of the whole of the county instead of only addressing your little piece of paradise.
