The water is still spilling into Biscayne Bay since Hurricane Irma...I started my observation on September 23rd when it was flushing like a toilet. You can look at two other videos at this link.

The Latest on the Coconut Grove Playhouse, two Very Strong Women hire a Lawyer. By Geniusofdespair
The players in the Playhouse Preservation fight:
The county wants to demolish the Court House downtown, now they want to demolish the Playhouse in Coconut Grove -- Demolition Derby in Miami Dade County.
Two of my long time friends, Barbara Lange and Katrina Morris have hired attorney Lowell Kuvin to fight their case for preservation based on historicinferior interior. Better to have the playhouse than a parking lot (County loves parking lots). See the article in the Miami Herald today.
I have seen Barbara Lange fight with a room full of Rock Miners. I went with her and was sort of in shock and a little scared. She is pretty tough. Arthur Teele was a good friend of hers. Every time I see her she forgets who I am -- even though I have known her since 1995 and I have been to her home, drove with her for a few hours and have been at an endless amount of meetings with her. I swear I even worked for her for a time. A very brief time. Just not on her radar.
Katrina, on the other hand, I went to her wedding and I have know her almost the same amount of time. She remembers me well. She is a relocated California girl.
Both women know how to battle. Watch out.

King Tide Saturday October 15th Dinner Key, Coconut Grove. By Geniusofdespair
They expect a 3 foot height of high tide during this King Tide (Sunday and Monday). This is at 2'.8" today, Saturday, at Dinner Key in Coconut Grove. I took these photos at about 9:30 A.M - High Tide. Normal tides are 2.1 to 2.5 inches. What a difference just 3 inches can make! And they expect 4" more?

Grove Isle Bigwigs: growth management gone and so is your view ... by gimleteye
The turmoil at Grove Isle over a developer's plan to erect a new high rise condominium blocking the million dollar views of current residents has a certain irony. Auto magnate Gus Machado and former Miami Herald publisher Alberto Ibarguen are among the powerful residents of Grove Isle who have taken their objections against the developer's plans to court, the same way as Venetian Causeway defenders of their right to view.
Although the legal wrangling is taking place in Miami-Dade court, with attorneys arguing over the fine points of local zoning law, the arguments take place in an atmosphere deprived of state land use planning regulations.
While it is true that Growth Management laws -- stripped by the Governor-in-Thief Rick Scott -- would not have blocked a local zoning controversy from gaining traction for residents, it is indisputably the case that the goal of growth management was to provide a framework for placeholders, including developers and residents, emphasizing an overarching principle to guide community growth.
Grove Isle residents are scarcely the only coastal residents snake-bit by indifference to the importance of good land use regulation. Florida is so much the poorer for Governor Rick Scott, the GOP legislature and the collapse for which they are largely responsible; state land use planning.
I can hear the lawyers for the developer in the Grove Isle case complaining; that's not what this is about. But anyone with a modicum of knowledge can't dodge this Lilliputian arrow: if you had fought for growth management laws instead of blocking them through indifference or support of growth-at-any-cost, your view would not be so threatened.

What I did today. By Geniusofdespair
We went to Wynwood to show out of town guests the Wynwood Walls. I took a picture of what I consider one of the best walls in Wynwood (above). We then went to the Coconut Art Fair and we bought this art glass by Scott Gamble (below). I then had some Lin-Mania viewing, and ended with watching a Miami Heat win. Good day. Pizza bound.

Meeting Tonight: Cocount Grove Sailing Club. By Geniusofdespair
The Coconut Grove Sailing Club is on City-owned land and is only where it is today because of the community's support. They opened their door to social members in order to play nice with the community and now they want to close their doors on community members using the facilities.
There is a meeting to discuss the membership policy at at the Sailing Club (2990 S. Bayshore Drive) Wednesday, May 26 from 7:30 to 10:30 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend because the Coconut Grove Sailing Club is considering eliminating social memberships. Current members will be able to vote on this at the annual meeting on June 4. There have been a series of forums to discuss the club's proposed new plan for memberships:
The Sailing Club is on prime City waterfront property.
There are currently two types of memberships, Social and General, Social is where you pay a nominal fee per year for the privilege of using the club to have a burger or drink. General Memberships between $900 and $1,000, allow members to park in their lot and if there is dock space available, they have the right to that and/or to store a boat or take classes, etc.
Their new plan is interesting because what they would lower the General Membership fee and eliminating the Social Membership fee.
In the past, we have promoted events that they have sent us to promote, but apparently, the only people permitted to the events are General or Social members, but not the general public. People have been turned away for concerts, pig roasts, spaghetti night and more. - Wendy Kamilar - Business Development, Telemundo Group
