The Mayor is right: Lynda Bell Wrong - I don't trust your motives on this one. By Geniusofdespair

District 8 County Commissioner Lynda Bell November 19th (she says concerned 14 times in less than 3 minutes):

WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO!

The Mayor of Miami Dade County's Statement November 15th:

Following a careful and detailed review of the response to my request for an opinion from the Executive Director of the Commission on Ethics and Public Trust, and the written observations submitted by the Interim Inspector General, a course of action has been developed with their participation to cure the irregularities identified in the selection process of the Program and Construction Management Services related to the wastewater system priority projects. To ensure the selection process continues to move forward, I will appoint a Mayoral Advisory Committee (Committee) composed of three external and two County staff members with knowledge and expertise in these types of services. This Committee will be charged with providing to me a final ranking and consensus statement of the proposals submitted by AECOM and CH2MHill.

It is important that this selection be completed via a fair and equitable process. Given their importance to the residents of our community, my administration is committed to expediting all Water and Sewer infrastructure projects in the County. In doing so, I want to ensure that the process we use to select firms and contractors is one that is fair, competitive and transparent.

Our post on the issue. The public is satisfied that the Mayor is trying to do the right thing, left with a difficult situation, on this $1.6 billion dollar contract Lynda. You didn't mention the controversy, the conflicting ethics opinions, etc. It is amazing what you leave out, like that Mike Shehadeh was hired right around the time of the bid submittals, in September, by CH2M...for you? On your behalf? You have been trying to get him a job, many will acknowledge that. CH2M got the bid but there was some hanky panky going on (the mayor's statement acknowledges that).

Great video. Now I can really put a meter on her when she's hiding her real motives, she repeats herself excessively and also really say's nothing of any substance. I think she thinks the more she repeats her BS it will hide her real agenda or lies. She does this all the time at the BCC meetings. I love the way she pulls a Michelle Bachmann by saying Federal consent then Federal again like we didn't know what a Federal Consent meant in the first place. It's like when Bachmann said US Congress from the US. OMG, it was something I remembered from a recent Jon Stewart show. I got to find that clip. These Tea Party freaks are such thieves. I wonder if Mike's running out of his Homestead settlement money. Where's Bell's ex aide, former love interest of Mike's Joanna Faddis?

If you think the mayor doesn't have a hidden agenda, you would be wrong. He appointed Gaspar Marinda, assistant director in Public Works, to the new selection committee. Apart from the fact that he never speaks in public where English is required because he barely speaks the language there is this: Marinda was hired by Pete Hernandez, and promoted through the ranks by Hernandez, Public Works Director at the time. Hernandez eventually became an Assistant County manager before he went to the City of Miami as City Manager, then got fired. He is now head of AECOM. Gee, I wonder which firm Marinda will select.

I think it's safe to say she is concerned. Says it a lot, thirteen times! Must have been the word of the day.

Bell is not smart enough to intellectually oppose or support a measure so she just chatters on and on. The big question is what does Shehadeh have on her?

Generally in this county when a public official like Shehadeh is released from his job for, among other things, claims of sexual harassment and improper use of public equipment (here, viewing weird porno/dating sites on his office computer), you never hear from them again. But Shehadeh and Bell have some kind of bond that one can only wonder at.

Having said all that, however, this campaign by AECOM is very disingenuous. The county attorney gave his opinion that a firm could submit records to the selection committee by email so long as they copied the clerk. You may think that's dirty pool, but it's the process in this county and the county attorney confirmed their interpretation of the law.

Given the size of the contract, it's no wonder everyone is unloading all their guns at the decision. But, the mayor may end up screwing up the process by creating this extra-legal procedure.

Will we end up with another baggage wrap controversy when we have a pending agreement with the EPA to clean up our sewer system? Sometimes the cure can be worse than the disease.

Remember how the Mayor of Detroit went to jail? It was a water and sewer contract. He forced the contractor to hire his friend in order to get the contract. After getting the contract, he took the money and gave some to the Mayor. The Mayor got 28 years in jail, and a lot of city officials and other people are doing time in jail too. There are things we need to look closely at. Late arrivals to the process, people who have no engineering credentials or experience, people who are related to elected officials, and people who have past relationships with elected officials. I am sure with the court and all these federal agencies looking at the process, no one would be stupid enough to do something out of order.

Very difficult to listen to Lynda ramble on. She needs to take classes on lying. How did she get this far in politics?

"Seven months after the historic conviction of Detroit's former mayor on wide-ranging public corruption charges, Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced Thursday to 28 years in prison for running what the government called a money-making racket out of City Hall."

Lynda are you "Concerned"?

My god I counted them -- in less than 3 minutes she says concerned 14 times!!!

Anonymous said...

If you have done nothing wrong, why be concerned?

verbal masturbation.

I know why people do what she wants. It's because she rambles so much that you do whatever she wants so she'll shut up.
After listening to this for about 2 minutes all I heard was Charlie Brown's teacher, wah, wah, wah, wah wah wah wah.
But through it all, she did seem 'concerned.'

Isn't that George Gretsas and Windy Lobos sitting with Mike Shehadeh and Lynda Bell?

It is wendy, I think was taken during bells run for office.

This picture of Mike, Lobos, Lynda and Geirge was used by the same blog in 2011.

Mike never stoped working since he left Homestead. Only he is making a lot more money.

If Mike has that much power to win a project like this for his company, then they should make him the CEO of the company.

When I read an article like this, it makes make lought... And yes wonder because it if full of s**t and certainly hate for Lunda and Mike.

Question for the writer;

Since you always write about ethics, don't you think that it is very an ethical for you to push for AECOM knowing very well that the head of that company was the man who hired and promoted your husband when he was the city manager in Miami?

Can you answer the question?

OMG. She is concerned.(about her theoretical ass)

Listening to this tape is not only annoying, it is painful.

She looks to be in some sort of mental panic; she knows she wants to intervene (and she probably knows why), but she can't shout-out "stop screwing with my friend's company".

This clip is right up there with the "you can't name a school Audubon, because he killed birds to draw them" tape.

I have never seen such babble - (Well, even Souto makes sense compared to this rant)

She was throwing all the loose crap she had in her head at the wall -- unfortunately for her, it was random crap.

This is one of those speaking opportunities that illustrates just because you CAN speak, doesn't mean you SHOULD open your mouth.

My husband was neither hired nor promoted by Pete Hernandez. No promotion EVER. Check your facts.

My husband worked under 8 managers.

It doesn't matter anyway who knew Pete Hernandez. Many of us know him from one place or another.

Pete Hernandez did not create the questionable process. The people who are gaming the process by cheating and the ones allowing it are the bad guys.
