Moving the UDB LINE....Again. By Geniusofdespair

Turnberry/Doral GP, LLC - Land outlined in yellow

This will be going before the Planning Advisory Board 2pm on October 21st. It is Northwest and southwest corners of NW 41Street and the Florida Turnpike Extension. What do you think Turnberry, owner of the Aventura Mall, is going to do there?

Tired of fighting.

Urban Infill. Eastward Ho. The idiot Commissioners and the poorly educated administrators should make sure every site east of I-95 is smartly planned and developed BEFORE they start invading the Everglades. What is the matter with Audrey Edmunson? Why doesn't she fight for urban infill?

Farm land is easier to develop.

A lot os us are tired but we have to keep on pushing. The young replacements are struggling to pay off massive student loans and must find jobs in other places in the country as there are none here for them. But whereever they are they are making a contribution.

Make money money money.

Lower priced townhouses. Loans insured by government. HOA will be insolvent in 10 years after owners refuse to pay HOA fees. Lawyers will make a killing in personal bankruptcy and HOA dissolution. A true economic engine that cannot be stopped.

What would be worse on the environment, a shopping center or another Rock Mine?

It is in the lake belt already.

I must guess a mall to rival with dolphin and international mall. It hard to believe condos ...... Turnberry may want to put a golf course or resort type to compete with trump resort in doral!!!!!!!!!

Turnberry equates to aventura NE dade area............ Mall, condos, or resort. Remember they also have a resort? I stay in NE dade and know turnberry is not about infill only luxury and money

This proposal to move the UDB once again coming before the Planning Advisory Meeting October 21st was specifically called out at the "Goodbye Miami" event by Laura Reynolds of Tropical Audobon.

She urged the 50 or so young and able bodied to go to the meeting to 'shut it down' (meaning the proposal, not the meeting, I'm sure.)"This should never go to the Commission" she said.

Maybe you won't have to fight alone Gimlette.

Or maybe you will.

Miami is getting exactly EXACTLY what it deserves. Maybe the Knight Foundation and its multi billion dollar endowment should finally re-examine who and what it funds, here, in recognition of years of failed strategies.

I crack up whenever i hear or read about Eastward Ho or urban infill.

I would bet there's a very high correlation between the people who oppose moving the UDB and those who also oppose re-development projects east of I-95.

We can't have it both ways. A lot of very good infill projects get a lot of flack they don't deserve.

We are going. said...

Where is it going to be held?

I remember Lynda Bell at the UEL forum during her campaign. When asked about the UDB she made us believe that if the UDB got moved she would move it in not expand it. She sounded very environmental that 1 day.

Hey all, please go to this meeting. The PAB needs to see volumes of people speaking against moving the UDB or else they'll see this project is a "magnificent idea," like they always do!

The meeting is at 2 p.m. on Mon., October 21st at the Government Center Building in Commission Chambers. The address is 111 NW 1st St #2510, Miami, FL ‎. Take the MetroRail and take the Government Center station.

See you there?

By the way, Tropical Audubon is hosting a Phone Bank on Thurs., October 17 from 7-9 p.m. to get turnout for the PAB meeting. 5530 Sunset Dr.,Miami, FL 33143
