Homestead Primary Election Results leads to a runoff. By Geniusofdespair

Jeff Porter has the most votes, 37%. Mark Bell had 33% so there will be a runoff. Maldonado won his seat. Runoff between Jimmy and Hodge. Bateman got about 500 votes.

Tell Ben Kuehne to stand down on the issue of whether Governor Scott can remove Steve Bateman if reelected. We'll never know if he was right or wrong. The contest now is to see who can get the 30% of the vote that neither Porter nor Bell got. My guess is that people in Homestead still remember Lynda Bell and won't be too keen on getting her husband elected. If Bell loses the runoff, expect that the push to recall Lynda will pick up steam. She'll be seen as a wounded hog. Plus, fundraising for her for her husband, her recall, and her 2014 election (if the recall is not successful) predict that she is not long for this political world.

We will be actively seeking the re-call of Lynda Bell at every opportunity during this part of the campaign. It won't look good for any of the Bell Klan if momma Bell is being recalled while she is campaigning for her husband.

Go ahead, do your worse...

I think Hodge was on the council with Porter years ago. I must say, great job on those AB ballots. Porter did beat out Bell's machine. Williams & Maldonado did even better. This is a must win for Porter and Williams to save Homestead from Lynda Bell. Williams has to beat Hodge or district 4 goes down in to the dumps faster then Hodge put it there years ago. I hope Porter & Williams will work together. Bell is betting Porter will go with Hodge and that's how Bell is going to win, from what I see as a very experienced campaign perspective.

As to Lynda Bell, her house husband, with all the insider $$$ still couldn't shake the memory's of Lynda's rein of terror down here. I thought he was some type of plumber assistant but now he's an "innkeeper" who cannot keep the business floating without taxpayer funds! Typical.

Homestead, vote for anyone but the "Bells"! They both need to go the way of Anita Bryant and the KKK!

Do you really believe that Jeff Porter is the great hope for Homestead ? (I'm no fan of the Bell's ). Look at those who bck Jeff... farmers with lots of land to sell, developers. lobbyists and bankers. In this case it is not enough to say anyone but the Bells.Homestead is Hosed anyway you look at it.

It really is simple, anyone but the Bells! This is not a strong Mayor City. They don't have the water/sewer capacity to do the damage they did way back during the housing bubble. The irony is Gimenez & L. Bell stopped it to stop Bateman, now it's going to bite them all, I mean all those council members because they voted to un fund it as well. Porter will not have a majority as he will have to tread lightly because like all pols, he's going to want to get re elected and if he screws up too badly and Bateman is acquitted, he's gone the way of Linda Bell in 2009.

Homestead has been looking once again to annex in the East. This was in play prior to Porter. Any political puppet can follow this developer play set in motion by Rosen a year or two ago. Do you think Bell is going to stop his financial backer Rosen? He's the real danger here which is why I'll support Porter and hold my nose doing it.

I forget to add: Watch Rosens PAC $$. Rosen bidding on L. Bell's original Taj Mahal project in the middle of the Homestead CRA money machine district where businesses never have to earn a dime, they just apply for grants! Those people, who I really don't believe even live in Homestead, will be funding Bell, which is appropriate since Mark Bell survives on either County (through Lynda)CRA or other funds not related to running a real business or being profitable.

Follow the money here. The Bells will out fund with their PACs including the one with Lobos. That's another reason to support Porter. If a candidate is so bad, they're taking a page out of the Rick Scott play book - self fund, well, indirectly!

Porter will have an ironclad majority. Waldman , Hodge, Elvis ( who simply gravitates to the one in power)and Sheeley who is under the smae roof with him all day, five days a week. Not a good sign for things to come.

Anonymous said...

Isn't Waldman going to be termed out next year? She may be looking at a Mayoral run, who knows. If that's the case, she's going to be careful. Hodge isn't going to beat Williams, if he does, then last anon, yep, we're more screwed now then we are right now!

I've never been a fan of Shelley, he's a panzy to me so is Burgess.

It will be entertaining for the next month. Plenty of action for the blogs. Can't wait to look at who's involved where in this whole campaign. Fun times will be had by all on both sides.

Too bad Nazy is not in the mix to vote for for vice mayor. Porter and Shelley at 1 and 2 is not the ideal situation.

This is crazy! In Washington D.C., Mayor Marion Barry was re-elected after caught on video smoking crack, arrested by the FBI, served time in federal prison... But Bateman did not hurt anyone, was only helping the city, county, and CHI, and collected a very small sum of money in the process. He has done more good for Homestead than any past mayor! I don't think you have seen the last of him yet! Please follow up when he is vindicated of the trumped up charges against him!

Ma Bell and her house boy will definitely go down! They don't stand a chance! Porter may not be perfect, but then again, no one is. MarKKK Bell has no experience at all, spousal service does not count! And he looks like he just crawled out from under a rock! The dirty campaigning and childish antics are despicable! But then his wife was despised also! Surely, the previous blogger was right... The reign of terror still rings on in the ears of Homestead's council. For whom the bell tolls, we shall see.

Nazy got her butt kicked!!!

I want to compliment Jeff Porter in coming out on top of Mark Bell in yesterday's election.

Marl Bell, through his wife, had more money, PAC money, investors who contributed money as they were afaid not too, fearing that if they did not do so, they would have to answer to Lynda Bell, who holds the power to stop and hurt their causes and business. BLACK MAIL is a dirty word, but, it is true.
Jeff Porter is the HOPE for the people of Homestead. Lynda and Mark Bell shoukd be ashame of themselves for the dirty way they conducted their campaign again't Steve Bateman and Jeff Porter; Steve Bateman was no angel, but he did not deserve the despicable beating they did to him when he was down. If the supporters of Steve Bateman want to get even with Lynda and Mark Bell, they should consider switching to support Jeff Porter for mayor. I for one will do so.

I predict Porter will be Mayor!

If Bateman is out, his supporters should vote for Porter. Also no angel, but NO politician is... MarKKK Bell has no experience, can't put together an intelligible statement on his own, looks like a derelict, etc. His own business is failing. Thank god mortgage to Redland Hotel is not in his name. Check it out and see, makes you wonder! Look into who is financing his business and his campaign! The place is dead, literally, had health code violations, no one stays there, etc. Check out local news coverage of dirty dining. And if he is so confident, why rely on Ma Bell's campaign funders? Really, what does Aventura have to gain from Bell being mayor? They are smug and happy that they took down Bateman, but he does not stand a chance! Porter and Bateman used to be friends and served on council together. They are 2 peas from the same pod! Good luck, Bell Boy, I hope you enjoy your time slandering others. There is no leadership experience. He may have practical real world experience, if you count exposure to his wife during her reign of terror. She handed out favors left and right. Even to her own daughter! Remember the lovely young lady hand cuffed to a bar where she worked? So classy! The right to lifer, holier than thou family thinks they are invincible! We can only hope for Marks loss and her recall!!! People, please, don't be fooled by their childish antics!!! Your only good choice is Porter!!

Now one seemed to make such a fuss about a political spouse's lack of "elected experience" when Hillary ran for office. Now, she is the Dems' next great hope for President.

For those of us with boots on the ground in Homestead, there is no choice, just a question of who is the lesser of two evils. Porter has a history of supporting anything goes development so if you like congestion and think that the commercial projects that followed roof tops are worth being the foreclosure capital of the U.S., when even one house per acre less probably would have preserved some value for the rest of us, then Porter is your man. If you are Ok with the hidden hands of a philandering banker and over stuffed attorney plus his overbearing mother and has been father in law calling the shots, then Porter is your man. If you are OK with a Mayor whose angry, vindictive and egomaniac wife will be controlling his every though word and deed, then Bell is your man. If you want Homestead to be controlled by donors who needed to curry favor with a county commissioner, then Bell is your man. Unless you are one of those voters who pine for the good old days of the local kid, aw shucks golly gee whiz being Mayor or are a true believer in the carefully crafted but completely false persona the commissioner has created, then your best bet is to hold your nose, close your eyes, and let the pencil fill in the bubble it randomly hits. Adn pray that Hodge does not get elected on the coat tails of both Bell and Porter who can rely upon him to follow the leader.

Don't you dare mention the Clinton's and Bell's in the same sentence. Plumbers helper remember?

Name that plumber:

b. Lester Dawkins
c. Delmar Dawkins
d. none of the above.

Bonus question:
How many complaints did Marky Mark rack up for shotty repair work?

b. 20
c. 25
d. 225

So if she was just Hillary Rodham, just another attorney from Yale, she would have been elected to the U.S. Senate, become Secretary of State, and be slated to be the next President?

Whether you are a fan of Lynda Bell or not (most on this blog are not), it goes without saying that it would not be appropriate to build a dynasty here. To have the husband as Mayor and the wife as a commissioner is not appropriate. I hope the Homestead people do not have an appetite for that.

You make no sense we aren't talking about two smart lawyers. We are talking about a former maid and a plumbers helper. Apples and oranges. Both Clinton's are successful in their own right.

You people are vile and disgusting human beings. To call someone those names in public means you have no class or education. Grow up!
