Here is a First: Sosa Turns off Bercow's Microphone

Jeffrey Bercow, lawyer to those developers on the wrong side of the UDB line, seems to always talk away FOREVER. He asked Commission Chair Rebeca Sosa for 5 or 6 minutes. He got his time but tried to go on... Rebeca Sosa turned off his microphone when he wouldn't shut up.  Look at his face!

Thank you Commissioner Sosa!

Sosa is rude to do cut off the microphone to anyone like that. Next she will do it to you.

I obey the rules. She will never do it to me.

Can someone explain why developers and lobbyists get more time at the odious podium than citizens?

I want to know why he was given 5 -6 minutes in the first place after Sosa asked him "how much time do you need"? Plus, all this "experts" had time too. How often do WE THE PEOPLE get asked that question before we're cut off in mid thought?

Sosa was irritated probably after 5+ hours of craziness and jockeying to open up the UDB, which she has a record of doing, this was more that she was done then doing right by the people.

Sorry, Sosa may be getting better but she did anoint Bell as her co anchor and has a lot to make up for in my book. She is also still very much a part of the Rubio/Tea Party gang. She was also a regular vote of the URM, I don't forget, others may.

Wonderful! He clearly expected to be able to drone on as others do. For the most part, people who testify make every effort to stay within limits. There is a countdown clock visible and the Chair is very polite about reminding people of the time left. In this case, he seems to have assumed he would get away with his usual behavior. Thank you to Chair Sosa...

Looks to me he was summing up in conclusion and there's no reason not to let someone finish their last sentence. That's just common courtesy. Sosa is a former first grade school teacher and it shows.

last anon, he was not summing up in conclusion, that was a tactic to get more time. If you listen carefully, he said in conclusion and then started to ask for his time to be extended. This guy makes a living by skewing facts in the favor of his clients and essentially filibustering the BCC into agreeing with his positions. Its about time he got cut off at the mike.

Yes he was asking to extend his time. What do we get 2 or 3 minutes?

Bercow is just another mercenary who gets paid to hand out campaign contributions to influence weak elected officials. In this video, Bercow is getting paid by sleazy developers who want to pave the Everglades.

Your time is up Mr. Bercow, and so he continues. He should have fine tuned his speech before attending the meeting to be within the time allowed. I can't blame Sosa for cutting him off. Next, Sosa should get rid of Bell as co-chair and that would be a big improvement.

2-3 minutes is not enough. However, it should be the same for all. Next time you go, bring your speaking notes and hand them in.
