On Friday, September 6, the leaders of two Miami-Dade County community groups will file a recall petition form with the Clerk of the Circuit Court to have it reviewed for legal sufficiency.
The Miami-Dade County Commissioner whose name will be placed on the petition form will be chosen at the time of filing. Press conference at 1pm. I love this move. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Smart move. Recalling the Mayor is too expensive and this sends a message. If they choose Bell I will be so happy. Press release:

WHO: Pets’ Voice & MESA
WHERE: Miami-Dade County Courthouse
South Steps, 73 West Flagler Street Miami, Florida
I support whoever Pets Voice wants to throw out, and I'm not anyone's pet.
What a waste of money. Bell is up for re-election next year. Why start a process and pay for the cost of an election when the issue may resolve itself in 11 months? What does this really prove? This will not have an impact on other commissioners because the majority of voters who will be deciding are non-Hispanic.
The unions have got these two groups to believe this lack pf a tax increase is about pets being killed.
The reality is it's about bloated pensions and benefits for unions but as usual most people in Miami are too dumb to figure it out.
Drawing a name out of a hat to target for recall because you would not vote to raise taxes may backfire and eventually lead to unions being crushed.
Ask Detroit.
This is democracy or extortion?
What does this have to do with unions? Where is there a raise or increase in benefits had there been a tax increase? There are identified reductions in service There have been reductions in service. By the way, union members are also tax payers and voters.
Detroit? Please. If we're going to use that analogy then lets market ourselves as such and see time impact on our number one industry - tourism.
Cuts would not have to be made if union pensions were not increasing but I suppose $100,000 annual retirement income is peanuts to you. Get rid of the unions and there won't be any more dead puppies and kitties.
The Detroit analogy is right on the union contracts were the budget buster.
If you don't know something look it up don't make stupid comments.
It's Bell !!!
The weakest lobbying union gets the most cuts. It doesn't matter who is in office anymore. Can you even get elected without police or fire endorsements in Miami?
The Pet Trust fanatics are drinking their own Koolaid. They're going to pull a name out of a hat! Seriously. Very principled.
According to Patricia Mazzei of the Miami Herald, your wish has been granted. Lynda Bell will be targeted in the recall petition.
I would hope they would spend their time and money funding her opponent in 2014 instead of a recall, but it would be fun any which way. I would also suggest meeting with Dist. 8 stakeholders to determine the support of opposition candidates to Bell that way it won't backfire like Braman did when he didn't vet opponents! Remember, if she's recalled she can run. Seijas did that the first time she was recalled and won her seat back. Bell has probably 1/4 million in the bank or heading her way. This won't be cheap or easy.
Great news no matter what happens, it's bad for Bell so that makes it a good day for me no matter how she got there. I'd rather her and Eddie be doing the perp walk though. They both have done enough damage to this County as Bell did when she was Mayor.
We may also get help from the trans gender community and their supporters as well.
It's going to be a great weekend!
This is great news.
When do I get to sign?
Public pensions have been the same in Florida for many years. The only thing that has changed is that employees now contribute. FRS netted an additional $10 billion this year after paying out to beneficiaries.
You're obviously drinking Bovo's Kool-Aid. There are no unfunded pension liabilities in Dade County.
