Almost 30,000 Gallons of Nuclear Contaminated Water Leaked at Fukushima in Japan. By Geniusofdespair

For all you nuke fans, read the latest from Fukushima nuclear disaster:
• A rat causing a power outage by short-circuiting a temporary switchboard.
• Another blackout occurring as workers install antirat nets.
• Holes in the linings of huge sunken reservoirs leaking radioactive water.

Tepco says none of the about 120 tons of radioactive water that leaked was believed to have reached the ocean. Experts suspect the radioactive water has been leaking from the plant since early on in the crisis, citing high contamination in fish caught just off the plant.
It is 2 years that this disaster has been playing out - since the 3 reactor cores melted in early March 2011.

Salmon run in 4 and 5 year cycles in the Japanese Current. Just like the debris, the fish will be showing up in the nets of the Alaskan and BC fishermen probably this season. I think that all salmon, wild included, will be off my menu for a few years. I'll tell you, between the farmed fish and this disaster, I'm not sure the wild salmon are going to survive.

Ever hear of Atlantic Salmon?

I guess not.

Hey skipper the pretend fisherman ever hear of The North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organization? This is an international council made up of Canada, the European Union, Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, and the United States, with its headquarters in Edinburgh. It was established in 1983 to help protect Atlantic salmon stocks, through the cooperation between nations. They work to restore habitat and promote conservation of the salmon.

Guess not! As a sportfisherman I have seen wild Atlantic Salmon being caught in New England, Quebec and the Canadian Maritimes. I have purchased wild Irish, Norwegian and Scottish salmon at whole foods. Yes you are correct when you say that Atlantic Salmon is farm raised, it is a huge industry in Chile despite being on the Pacific.
Gimleteye enjoys getting the extinction crowd a bone to chew on every now and then and you fell for it. Tomorrow it will be the anti-fossil fuel crowds turn to chime in.
If you listen to him the world is currently unsustainable, so we are already dead along with the salmon. Maybe a polar bear will share a block of ice for my cuba libre tonight.
