Miami Herald: History of Absentee Ballot Fraud. By Geniusofdespair

Myriam Marquez wrote a good history of absentee ballot fraud. I recommend you read it.

She thinks that Elections paying for postage would help. Maybe a little. For example, it sure doesn't stop the ALF managers who order absentee ballots for all the residents and then they intercept most of them and sell them to a campaign. Marquez's history is good, her fix needs work. We need a multi-faceted approach. Elections are being stolen. I truly believe that Lynda Bell should not be a sitting commissioner. She won on absentee ballots. In close elections the absentees rule and we also know many of them are tainted. Fair elections do not exist in close races.

South Florida Jobs with Justice is holding a press conference tomorrow asking for an amendment to State Law. They want to make it illegal to direct voters interested in voting by mail to telephone numbers not answered by the staff of the department of elections. No more tracking by campaigns and committees!!!

The problem I see is that the ballots themselves are too cumbersome with the 3 languages. The older voter needs help to navigate the ballot itself. The voter should get a ballot in their choice of language. Older people don't like complication.

Now the investigation should shift from Hialeah to the absentee ballot fraud machine run by the Republican Party of Miami-Dade. Organized by the previous chairman David Rivera and now run by Erick Fresen.

Genius:
You are absolutely correct Lynda Bell should not be sitting as a commissioner. When absentee ballots decide an election something is rotten and dishonest in the elections. She is the worst politician I have ever seen sitting on the dias.

AB use is too widespread and thus ripe for the fraudsters.

ALFs have been turned into polling places. That is a big part of the problem. Signs are everywhere on the premises and candidates as well as candidates workers are actually making contact with the voters as they vote. The current arrests are not even touching 1% of the fraud.

The absentee ballots require reform, no identification is required, yet in person votes require ID.

Put a priority into reform of this monstrosity that is clearly out of control. How about Elections shows up with a machine at the ALF? Makes sense if more than twenty votes are coming from one address. This is not beyond technology.

The percentage of requested absentee ballots that have been turned in by (or for) Republican voters for the Tuesday election is currently running 5% higher for Miami-Dade state house districts than for non-Miami-Dade districts (48.2% to 43.3%). The return rate at this point for Dem voters is virtually the same (40.3% vs. 40.8%) for both Miami-Dade and non-Miami-Dade ballots.

Who ran Lynda Bell's absentee ballot campaign? Sounds like a good place to start.

Open it up. Kick it around. You might find something there.

I was told that David Rivera was helping with her Absentees.

Lynda Bell had Johanna Faddis (who is working for her now) working on that under the direction of Jose L. Castillo. his wife was running David Rivera's, so there could be a connection there as well

Gene Flinn lost the election to Bell because he ran a rotten campaign and let himself get distracted by a lawsuit charging that he didn't resign properly (which he didn't).

That being said, we should go back to the system where you could vote absentee if you were too sick to vote or were going to be out the county.

The best kept secret is that the Miami-Dade Elections Department has a deal (at least as of last election) with the US Postal Service and will pay for the postage of any ballot dropped in the mail WITHOUT a stamp.
