As I cross the country I have noticed that the Marriott hotel rooms are desperately in need of upgrading. They redo the lobbies but not the guest rooms. It is time to ditch the crooked bed skirts Marriott. It is also time to clean the ventilation systems. I have switched rooms numerous times because of smell, mostly moldy smell. Yes I am working points here but Marriott, when the Residence Inns are better than your hotels it is time to do massive room design. I switched to a boutique hotel in Albuquerque - the quirky, elegant Andaluz. Not a Marriott so no points. It is a historic Hilton they spent 3 years rennovating. Boutique hotels are the best, at least they are interesting. I am also doing Residence Inns in smaller cities, trying to ignore the shouting kids.

Watch "Sunshine Cleaning" while you are there...a great movie filmed in ABQ.
Lifestyles of the 1 percenters. I only wish I could afford to stay there.
I am so over caviar and champagne. I am also over the Hamptons (so common and pedestrian!).
I look for forward to seeing you again in Monte Carlo.
As I struggle to find a job in the Obama economy, you are complaining that full service hotels are not as good as they once were. It's nice to hear the problems of limousine liberals.
Ray, part of the problem with the Bain economy is that companies like hotels (and airlines, utilities, banks, etc.) have cut maintenance and hiring to the bone. They are squeezing their employees and they are underserving their customers.
We don't all begrudge you a nice vacation. Enjoy it!
Marriott is a rightwing nut, don't give him your money!
Do the tram to Sandia Crest, beautiful.
It's the weird smell in all the Marriott hotels that I can't stand.
I hate to disillusion you but the 1% 2% 5% don't stay at Marriott Hotels
OMG.O.D.! I'm glad you are on a road trip. But it would have been nice for you to cover today's news about Esteban Bovo's Aide mailing absentee ballots. It doesn't get better than that. I bet an elected official from Hialeah is behind all of this. Bovo has always given me the creeps.
Weird smell, you nailed it!! I am sorry I am missing the election melodrama...
OMG what am I missing???
From the Herald:
As part of the widening probe, police identified 164 absentee ballots collected at Commissioner Esteban Bovo’s Hialeah office, where an aide delivered them to a local post office, according to sources close to the investigation.
Bovo said he was shocked and knew nothing of the investigation, which has vexed the reelection campaigns of the county mayor and prosecutor.

Shocked? You betcha.
Shocked? Not. This crud is the chump change part of the election, not even the big stuff. In Kentucky, they are selling ballots for $250 a piece. The most I heard of in Dade was $50...we are cheap (and sleazy).
Our constituents are so desperate to be a part of something that they acquiesce to give their votes away for pennies. They thrive on the nurturing that the absentee ballot workers do with them throughout the year...and then give the ballot workers the ballots because the seniors trust them and are grateful for the attention .
