Will Gloria Romero Roses Run Against Ethically Challenged U.S. Congressman David Rivera and Other Election News. By Geniusofdespair

I am hoping Gloria Romero Roses runs against David Rivera. She would be a good choice. She was a Miami Fellows Initiative graduate and is a successful businesswoman. Joe Garcia also might challenge Rivera.

Luis Garcia has made it official that he is not running against David Rivera. On the elections website it says he is running against Bruno Barreiro. Everyone open your pockets and help Luis. Barreiro is really, really bad. If I had to blame one person for the Ball Park bad deal, it would be Bruno. He was the chair at the time and he would not allow any amendments and he truncated discussion. Throw the bum out.

Garcia v Barreiro ....then we wonder why this city is a run like a third world country. Cant we find better younger candidates??

Is she a high school student?

Braman is an idiot. First he raises funds for R Diaz de La portilla and then he backs Garcia vs Barreiro. He then backs Lynda Bell etc....I think he is missing the boat here. Lots of good candidates around instead of retreading guys from the past..

Everyone with money supports their candidates with big bucks. Wayne Rosen throws tens of thousands at candidates. Where have you been -- Braman is not the first to put big money behind a slate. The LBA members do it all the time. so does Shoma etc.

Now YOU know what some of us in the "know" have known about Braman for quite a few years now - He's not exactly what everybody thinks he is.

Sorry, this lady may be very nice, but this certainly is not the right district for her. She'd be better running in Miami Beach or that area.

High Density Developement and Deep South Dade/Monroe County have little if nothing in common.

I don't understand how she moved from the Related Group/Continental (according to the Linkedin profile) then to ALF's, which are problematic in themselves.

Sorry, I hate Rivera, but this candidate is not on my radar and appears to be a carpetbagger in the District. There's nothing about the environment or agriculture in her profile either. I don't want someone in Congress with a learning curve!

Who is this Gloria person? What has she done for our community? Where was she when we've been fighting against sprawl and moving the UDB, congested roads, and for incorporation of Kendall, Redlands and Palmetto Bay?

It's insulting that someone from Broward who has some free time in her hands a pocket full or money thinks she can represent a community just because she doesn't like the incumbent. When are we going to learn? All these Miami Beach politicians - and now Broward! - think they can just sweep in and run in our community. No wonder they lose elections and leave us to put up with the likes of Rivera!

No thank you, Ms Romero, why don't you run in YOUR own community??? We need someone who lives among us, who KNOWS our needs, who has been fighting with us to make our community better, who is personally invested in the wellbeing of our neighborhoods and quality of life, not another politically inspired neophite who wants to call themselves "Congressman"!

Just sayin...

Just saying is your tell

You mention a lot of LOCAL issues. This is a Federal seat. I disagree with you on her because she might be very active in her community. There are issues to be addressed everywhere. As long as she is doing good I don't care where she lives.

I live in the Dist. and I DO CARE where my next congressman lives! GoD, I love your blog, but that last post is just insulting to us down here. Yes, it's a Federal position, but understanding the needs of the District is important, this lady is clueless about our area. Why doesn't she run in Broward?

Geniusofdespair said...

So run for the seat.

Beating Rivera is the goal.

Ilena doesn't live in the other counties encompassing her district. Broward is in the district of some our Miami Dade County Congressman. If they can stomach our shitty Congressman, why can't you consider theirs?? They might be better. Districts cut across counties. Ron Saunders is in Monroe and Miami Dade County and he is only a STATE rep.

Alan West doesn't even live in his district. Do you know what a congressman does? It has very little to do with your hood.

What make you think that she can beat Rivera? Monroe County will be in this new district. I live closer to Key Largo than I do to Miami, I am in the Keys on a regular basis and I worked the Census there. They barely tolerate a Rep. from Dade, they will not support someone from Broward. They are a moderate to conservative bunch in the Keys and they will vote for the devil they know rather than someone from Broward.

I can tell you are the same person writing all this crap. So I am not printing anymore. You said your stupid position...you don't have to post it over and over and over...

I live in the Keys and I would vote for a Stone Crab over Rivera.

It is not even sure that this woman is running and the Republican's are already running scared.

I am not in the mood for idiots...

We need an option to Rivera. The congressional map is not even approved by the court yet, so residency should not be an issue at this late date. Besides, for U.S. Congressional seats, there is no requirement to reside in the district. That's in the Constitution, and for good reason.

I met Gloria Romero Roses recently and was super-impressed. I don't know if she plans to run, but I am sure a majority would get behind her.

What about Taddao? There was an article early this week just before Garcia dropped out that she's considering running. Late in the week it was Joe Garcia? Any Dem's have any inside scoop in this? Rivera, no matter how ethically challenged he is can easily raise a ton of cash. These are six figure, if not seven figure races. I know a whole bunch of people who would be good for the seat but how are they going to raise that kind of money?

Ross forget fressen, go after Rivera!

Ross said...

Nice try, Erik, but you are mine!

Gloria just announced. Let's give her our all!

Very professional, disciplined announcement. Embargoed until 8 this morn. Potential contenders discreetly dealt with. I like what I have seen so far, compared to the usual drama.

And it's perfect to have a strong woman as candidate in this race.
