Is Florida Power and Light Staff Big Fat Liars? By Geniusofdespair

Florida Power & Light is gearing up for its expansion at Turkey Point. So that would mean the unemployment around Homestead is down, right?

Wrong.

FPL is BRINGING IN the workforce. Restaurants near the plant are buzzing, short term rentals have gone through the roof. Condo's and Homeowner's Associations are changing their Condo Doc's to cash in. The job bonanza isn't for us in Miami Dade County...except for Lynda Bell - unapologetic Florida Power & Light cheerleader - I heard her daughter is now working for FPL. I guess Lynda herself will profit, she did buy a hotel in Homestead.

The least you could do is give the locals the jobs you promised in your presentations FPL. They are the ones that will suffer if things go wrong. Or, are you only reserving the LOW LEVEL jobs for locals?

Being that Bell and her brood are on the lower end of the education scale (and probably the IQ scale as well), what would one expect. Her staff aren't the brightest bulbs either.

I'm still amazed at the greatest Dade County AB campaign she ran (probably with the help of the GOP or a few local ballot brokers).

Give her credit for totally screwing this County! She fits right in with the unreformable majority who also support FPL and Rock Mining and doing away with DERM, and now trying to do away with the UDB!

She'll make a nice profit at the Redland Hotel, though have no idea how she could afford to buy it (hiccup)! The Ratepayers get to pay more money to the shareholders and the environmental destruction continues!

You speak the truth. Homestead is overrun with FP & L workers from other States. NOT from Florida.

Last anon, and don't forget the power lines. Most of the power they want to produce is also going to go out of State. They could have done this further north, like Palm Beach County or Stuart, but the exec's live in those areas! Our population has dropped according to the census, but not to the Land Use attorney's. This is all smoke and mirrors. ALL of it, including the rate increases.

FPL is a rogue corporation.

Five more hotels are on the drawing board for Homestead and Florida City. There are hardly any rooms to be had. Rentals are going as soon as they become available.
When the nuke build comes triple the number of out of state employees who will be getting those jobs.

When they promised us jobs they neglected to say the jobs were going to be reserved for people from other States. Why isn't Bell, Otis Wallace and Steve Bateman raising holy Hell? Why isn't Moss up in arms? Why don't they all ask Next Error the percentage of locals hired recently?

FPL lies on a daily basis.Every time they say there will be jobs the people in Texas throw a party. They have the supposed skilled workers. In the late 80's FPL laid off 10,000 maintenance workers and when we had the hurricanes in 04 & 05 they imported repair crews from everywhere but here. The true crime was that cost FPL aka ratepayers more than if we had kept the 10,000laid off maintenance workers for 15 years. The fraud at FPL is out of control the FBI NEEDS TO SET UP A PERMANENT OFFICE IN JUNO BEACH.
