The search for the perfect PIZZA, is it over? By Geniusofdespair

Stop the presses! I found an excellent pizza that was just about perfect, best I have had in Florida.  I had it at Franco & Vinny's. It has been in business since 1971.  I ate the pizza so fast I forgot to take a picture of it but I found this one on another site review.  It was the correct color, red with some white showing through, but not too much sauce - it was just right. The crust was tasty (we asked for thin crust) and crispy: two requirements.

I will go back there and Rick from the South Florida Daily Blog should be happy, it is right across the street from his favorite, Birch State Park. I am not giving the address out because I would prefer that very few of you go there. If you are too lazy to look it up, all the better for me: No lines!

Nothing but good things to be said on the internets as far as I can tell. Pizza while sitting next to the Intracoastal at Birch sounds perfect. I'll have to give it a shot.

Nope on this one Genius. Come to Westchester and try Franky’s Pizza! 91 first and Bird. Darn best pizza you’ll ever have. And forget the Birch State Park backdrop, here you’re right on Bird Road, home to many rare species of Westchester Cuban AB voters…

And Frankie's used to give you half a slice on top of the box for the drive home. Do they still do that?

They sure do! Extra crispy. I was there on Sunday.

If your to far from westchester (I Love Frankies Pizza) Cassola's on 17th ave also makes a great pizza and gives free samples while you wait.

Spris on Lincoln Rd. is the only pizza in South Florida that comes close to real Italian tomato pie.

Genius is spot on. The old Franco & Vinny's Pizza Shack is awesome. Check it out the next time you're on Sunrise Blvd., maybe for the Air & Sea Show or as an eastern detour from the Swap Shop. Then rent bikes & work it off.

Anthony's Coal Fired. I've lived all around the country and Anthony's has my vote.

Former New Yawker here:

I've not been to Franky & Vinny's but will try it out.

The BEST gourmet-style pizza I had in South Florida was by accident on a day trip to Naples at Campiello on 1177 Third Street South. Hands down the best.

Anthony's? meh

Upper East Side Pizza on 79th Street - Very good for nothing fancy pizza ie: regular pizza oven no coal or bricks. Reminds me of the kind I had as a kid.

Andiamo's - very good and fun atmosphere.

Giotto Pizza on West Avenue, Miami Beach - very good and nice outdoor seating.

Giotto, Andiamo and Upper East Side are the best I've had in the Miami area.

I used to like Naked Pizza but the last time it was not good. Don't know what happened to it.

Whole Foods for by the slice? Pretty good for a quick bite.
