On the Chopping Block in the City of Miami. By Geniusofdespair

City Manager Carlos Migoya just announced to the City of Miami Commission that several upper level department heads have been let go:

Director of GSA - Kelly Barket, Director of Capital Improvement Projects - Ola O. Aluko, Director of Public Works - David J. Mendez, and an Assistant City Manager - Bill Anido. I had to look up all the names in the directory, but I believe this is accurate.

The former City of Miami Administration lead by former Mayor Manny Diaz had a culture that condoned corruption. It will take time but the new Mayor, Tomas Regalado is trying to clean house and give the City a fresh start.

Corruption must be eliminated and the four unions must agree to reduce their salaries and their benefits.

I am still waiting for Mayor Regalado to find the really corrupt people in his government. I worked with Aluko, Barket and Mendez--corrupt? hardly. Yesterday's much-awaited dog and pony show was too much. Please keep your eyes on the magician's other hand--the one he doesn't want you to see.

Aluko, Barket and Mendez were not corrupt. They were just inept. From what I hear they are going department by department with the investigations. The Firm was not the only thing happening in CIP.

Why was Assistant City manager Bill Anido fired?
What were his responsibilities?

Police Chief Esposito might have to arrest many more police. Alledgedly, several dozen police act like employees of the owners of the corrupt and drug filled 24 hour clubs. Many crimes are taking place. Only the small fry get arrested.

During the hearings to force the commissioners into bailing out the Marlins who promised the commissioners that the City was in great shape financially?

Former Mayor Manny Diaz took over the City when it had a $140 Mil reserve fund. He forced the City to spend itself into insolvency. Now the City has almost no reserves and it faces bankruptcy.

Firemen getting paid $350,000 per year? For 3 day work weeks? Massive pensions?

When will the big fish get arrested?

Barket was neither corrupt nor inept... it is just the usual political hack job that is done every time there is a new mayor. Regalado is just worse than the others.

Wasn't it former Mayor Manny Diaz who left the City with a fat pension for himself and the City facing a $150 Million deficit? Maybe Regalado needs to keep cleaning house to get a team that respects the taxpayers.
