Wait Time At Early Voting Locations in Miami Dade County. By Geniusofdespair

I would rather drive than stand. Check out the wait times at early voting locations. The page is edited each hour. The Election Department in Doral seems to have the quickest line. Although the time for Coral Gables on the County website said 1 hour, the actual voting time was 2 hours for my friend.
Remember, the polls close at 7pm but if you arrive at 6:59 pm you will get to vote.
At 12:30 these are wait time for two locations THAT ARE UNACCEPTABLE:

Hurricane Sandy in South Florida. By Geniusofdespair
the high tide. The sand you see piled up was pushed/blown into the road by the surf/wind stirred up by the outer bands of Hurricane Sandy. The city plowed the sand back towards the ocean. I was told the white retaining wall running parallel between the road and the beach has washed away.
As you can see A1A was still closed yesterday afternoon. It has been closed since late Friday. A couple of shop owners said they had a few inches of water in their establishments but they were all open for business.
Why do ordinary Republicans vote against their own interests?

Gimleteye: Will you be voting for the GOP extremists?
"In my world, you don’t get to call yourself “pro-life” and be against common-sense gun control — like banning public access to the kind of semiautomatic assault rifle, designed for warfare, that was used recently in a Colorado theater. You don’t get to call yourself “pro-life” and want to shut down the Environmental Protection Agency, which ensures clean air and clean water, prevents childhood asthma, preserves biodiversity and combats climate change that could disrupt every life on the planet. You don’t get to call yourself “pro-life” and oppose programs like Head Start that provide basic education, health and nutrition for the most disadvantaged children. You can call yourself a “pro-conception-to-birth, indifferent-to-life conservative.” I will never refer to someone who pickets Planned Parenthood but lobbies against common-sense gun laws as “pro-life." • Florida law requires that notice of a referendum proposal must be “clear and unambiguous,” cannot “fly under false colors” or “hide the ball as to its true effect.”
• Why haven’t any actual plans or specifications for this massive development ever been provided to the public? How could voters possibly know what you’re asking them to vote on?
• Where does anything you’ve provided tell voters that a professional tennis promoter and its political allies in County government are proposing a 50-year sweetheart contract requiring $50 million in County bonds to finance a massive expansion of the structures and commercial uses on the Crandon Park Tennis Center site in the heart of Crandon Park, the public’s pristine sylvan retreat on Key Biscayne?
• Why haven’t you told the public who will have to pay the $50 million in County bonds if the tennis promoter decides to leave or goes out of business during the 50-year period?
• Why haven’t you told the public that none of this proposed expansion would be permitted by the existing Crandon Park Master Plan and restrictive covenants on the land?

The voting turnout appeared lighter than Saturday on Sunday. The line was about 2 hours long when I was there about 1pm. Yesterday's line got up to 4 hours.
Anyway, I decided to do a video today of voters talking to me about the election or anything else. Well guess what, no one would talk to me except a young man and High school girl. The only others that wished to talk were the politicians (of course). Although the camera I am using is good the sound sucked because of the wind so I had to dump a lot of what I shot. This is what I was left with. I did ask what they all thought of early voting. Didn't quite get an answer from everyone. I apologize to those whom I shot video of that was unusable. The young man at the end, he is so earnest, he is our future. I like our chances with a kid like him. I was told by the campaign workers, if you show up prior to 7 pm. They do not send you away. The Polls will stay open till everyone on line votes. I would assume that people will move faster as the evening progresses.

Here we go again: Hundreds of rotting, stinking dead fish are washing up on Southwest Florida beaches from a massive red tide outbreak. Tourists and residents are being warned to stay away from the beach and the local economy is at risk again.
While this crisis unfolds, polluter lobbyists in Tallahassee and in Washington are getting their politician friends to push for ineffective standards on the pollution that worsens these outbreaks. We're talking about phosphorus and nitrogen, the so-called "nutrients," which come from sewage, manure and fertilizer.
Polluters basically wrote the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's ineffective rules on this pollution, and they want the state to substitute their loophole-ridden mumbo jumbo for the clear, enforceable standards developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Gov. Rick Scott is pushing the weak, substitute rules.
We need the EPA's strong rules, because they set enforceable numeric limits on the pollutants in our waters. The EPA's rules are easy-to-read speed limit signs. The rules that Gov. Scott is pushing are ridiculous — they would only require pollution control after waters have been already slimed – and that means the damage is done and taxpayers will pay for expensive clean-up.
Now it's up to President Barack Obama: will he back Rick Scott's proposal, or support EPA's?
So far, citizens have sent more than 34,000 letters to the White House, urging Obama to enforce the EPA's standards. We have formed a citizen's group called the Florida Water Coalition, and you can learn more – and send an alert to the White House — by visiting floridawatercoalition.org.

Absentee Ballots: Watch your penmanship! By Geniusofdespair
In the 2012 Primary Election, the Canvassing Board rejected 307 ballots based on signature not matching. We can't even write our own names correctly in Florida!

People at the front of the line about 2:30pm said they had waited about 3 hours. The line doubled back behind the building and made a U near the door. You are looking at two lines, one is against the building.
