We Just Have TOO MANY GOOD CANDIDATES for Congress. By Geniusofdespair

27th Congrrssional District
The Democrats really want that 27th Congressional District seat being vacated by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.  The problem is they have too many GOOD candidates running. Thin out the herd.  The Republicans have some lame candidates (Bruno Barreiro for one).

In  the 2016 Election, 287,677 people voted. 129,760 voted Democrat. In the 2016 primary for Democrats, 28,963 voted.  If you divide 30,000 by 9 candidates that is 3,333 picking our candidate. More Democrats will probably vote but you can't give them so many choices. I could pick 3 I would vote for but I am committed to Jose Javier Rodriguez, I think he tops the list. I wish we could spread these candidates around to different seats. Like come on, Me and Nick Duran. What a choice that is. Mary Barzee Flores, Ken Russell or Kristen Rosen Gonzalez would be so much better of a choice. And if Jose Javier Rodriguez is forced to vacate his State Senate seat that would be another great place for one of these candidates. I heard Nick Duran will jump in. Then I will have to follow Duran to the Senate if another Democrat doesn't run.  Look at these two State positions candidates. Do some polling on your U.S Congress chances.

Here is the entire district I put it in two separate maps so you could see if you are in it. You can enlarge it, I saved it very large.

Here is one running that I think should vacate:

Michael A. Hepburn: A Miami native, Hepburn is a member of the Miami Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and serves on the Allapattah Neighborhood Association and the Miami Dade Democratic Executive Committee. He works as a senior academic advisor for the School of Business at the University of Miami. Hepburn lost a primary against Daphne Campbell for the state House in 2014.

Funny that this will be the first time Russell has cast a vote in a midterm election, not to mention a primary. I know many people don't feel this point is valid, but I don't think someone that couldn't bother to even vote in midterm elections is qualified to represent us in Washington. If he didn't care 4 years ago, why does he care now? (My guess... $$$$)

Jose has the experience and the will to fight for us. If we elect someone that doesn't know what he or she is doing, that person will be eaten alive in Washington. I really think Jose will hit the ground running.

Ken Russel is a very weak candidate. He is a political neophyte with little experience. Why is he even running?

Some candidates above have more experience than others. Let those candidates run and they will learn the hard way where they stand. You may never have to write about having some drop out again. In other words, let nature take its course. However, I would not call Bruno Barreiro lame. He had almost 6 years as a Florida State Representative and nearly 20 years as a commissioner. You may argue his political views, but that many years being re-elected is not easy. Never underestimate your opponents. That’s one reason Republicans win in an otherwise Democratic County. Bruno recently agreed with Ros-Lehtinen and Curbelo on the need to help those affected by the DACA program.

On the Democratic side, have to agree with the other poster that, for the moment, Jose would be the most formidable for the Democrats.

Haha... The first anonymous sounds like a certain seated commissioner. Fun to watch these secret alliances amongst the Democratic Party all plotting against each other...

This circus will be awesome interesting. Elections rarely result in the best representation of the district. They solely determine which camp got the most voters out. JJR is far removed from the communities he represents, but he does have a ton of lawyers who donate to his campaign. I am sure the lawyers in Miami know how to pick the best of the best for us.

The candidate that is a part of a national political movement to create a Brand New Congress and who does not accept Corporate PAC or Lobbyist money - is the one that is called on to vacate. Media Bias is funny...

JJR is a "squishy" dem who will end up being a blue dog type. Mary Barzee Flores appears more progressive which is what is needed after years of Lehtinen's extremism....

Marvin Dunn is out.

JJR is the only Democrat that can beat Bruno..... None of the other have run a real serious campaign nor do they have the network and broad appeal that Bruno and JJR have. The "Other Democrats" maybe smart, likable and even well financed, there just isn't enough real experience to win, even Rep. Richardson!

These dopes should switch parties, after this month the dems are toast.

With all due respect GOD (and I almost mean that), pick a side-- you can't reform from straddling the middle. The reform I think you want is going to come from the left of center--not from nut case gop'ers or panderers to the right wing.

JJR is basically a Republican in this race, his donors and campaign manager are Republicans. The most progressive candidate, and most organized thus far, is David Richardson. Plus he's experienced, that's who I'm voting for. All the other candidates are weak AF.

Jose is not a Republican. I know you are a Richardson supporter, but don’t lie about a good Dem.

I will take Flores or Richardson. And I am not lying --plenty has been written about JJR being virtually a dino; he certainly is no progressive.

Barzee Flores was never a federal judge, however she was nominated but not confirmed. She was only a circuit court judge

Ken Russell is a novice. Ken needs to learn how the City of Miami works before using the taxpayers money to run for higher office. We doubt Miami taxpayers are happy they are paying Ken $105,000 per year while he campaigns and raises money from lobbyists FOR A NEW JOB.
