Thanks for posting this. How in the world did we let DERM and the BCC approve this 10 year gamble? I remember attending community meetings after the tritium was found, all the newspaper articles and fist shaking didn't get us very far. Was the cooling tower solution even entertained in 2016 before it went to the BCC vote? What really happened?

What really happened was that government agencies and officials, with the exception of a very few, looked the other way during the multi-decadal fraud by Florida Plunder & Loot (FPL). Those agencies with data in hand proving malfeasance didn't have the political courage or will to step forward, even though their scientists knew what was happening. Even today, FPL is putting pressure on scientists to do the bare minimum instead of exposing the real damage being done to water supply and a national park. It's a shameful episode in US history, unfolding on 6,000 acres of land in Homestead, Florida, whose municipal governments have lead in a parade of fools for many, many years.
