Daniella Levine Cava, District 8 County Commissioner in Miami-Dade, files for 2018 re-election ... by gimleteye

The 2018 election season started for Miami-Dade's progressive county commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, who declared for re-election this week.

According to the Miami Herald, Levine Cava expects a challenger from the right.

"In the last few years, our team has served as a caring and effective resource for residents, small businesses, nonprofits and civic organizations. We united our community around a shared vision to create more opportunities for South Dade to thrive. We met our campaign promises to defend our parks, libraries and public safety. We worked to make our government more accountable through legislation and enhanced services. We supported local businesses and grew our economy."

Best Miami politician in a long time. She'd better win in a landslide.

I agree but she is not a politician. Some have earned the elite status to call themselves a public servant. She has earned it.

And the nasties came out swinging. Within hours, maybe minutes, an opposition website went live to dismiss her accomplishments.

According to the Miami Herald :
Monday evening, a former paid field operative for Florida’s Republican Party unveiled a website criticizing Levine Cava. Jaime Figueras, a regional field director for the Florida GOP until December.

Levine Cava said that the photo of the waterfront home on the website isn’t hers, and that she doesn’t belong to a country club. “I canoe and raft,” she said.

So let it be known that in this particular campaign, Mr. Jaime Figueras, Republican, throws out the first twisted lie.

Republicans have no scruples or shame.

There is no one who can defeat Daniella. She is the real deal. I absolutely love her, admire her and respect her.
