The most gutsy guy in America: Preet Bharara. By Geniusofdespair

Preet Bharara, was called on to  investigate the Trump Organization because of a gaggle of lawsuits "asserting that Trump is violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution which prohibits government officials form accepting profits, gifts and other things of value from foreign governments without approval from congress" - the Real News,  New York Times .

Although he was assured of staying put in a meeting with the Tweeter in Chief in November, Donald Trump asked Bharara and 46 other US Attorneys to step down this week. The New York U.S. Attorney Bharara refused to step down -- Love this guy -- Trump fired him today.  He was the Southern District of New York's U.S. Attorney.

Congress had better get their act together and continue the investigation. We now see that Trump will just fire anyone who tries to look closely at his empire of illusion.  How can the house of cards fall if everyone is afraid to offend Donald Trump the huckster.

I guess the fact this a common practice shouldn't be mentioned. In 2009, Obama "replaced" them. In 2016, Trump "ousts" them.

This Preet guy worked for Schumer as an aide. Enough said.

Preet's offfice was investigating Democrats and Republicans. It has many important ongoing investigations that should be continued. Will the Orange Thug appoint one of his dimwit sons or another
political hack to be the new AG? What will happen to the investigations into the Orange Thug's fake charity?

The question all these lower middle class conservatives trolls have to ask them selves: is do they generate enough in taxes to pay for their health care out of tax credits. Absurd. It's all about the cottage cheifs shaking of the shackles of benefits. That's why they outsource. And this is how they will soon be able to bring the jobs back to America - trump is recreating the pre-industrial revolution serf class.

Although I generally disagree with all this administration has done to this point, it appears this mass firing has been done before and gives this President an excuse for going back on his word to keep Bharara in his position. It appears to me however, based on the timing and circumstances, that this is an attempt to stop a possible investigation.

Hey David one who worked for FPL you took that headline right from Breibart.

In the past it has been gradual ( except Clinton) but we know where Trump gets his ideas:

"On Thursday evening, Fox News commentator Sean Hannity called for President Trump to “purge” Obama-era nominees." And Friday it was done!

U.S. Attorney is a political appointment. Replacing, no problem, normal. BUT wholesale firing all of them when no one has been chosen to replace, no one has been nominated, vetted and sent for Senate confirmation, when the purpose is to disrupt an on going investigations (at least in Southern District of New York into Trump)...when all the the offices across the country have no leadership with no warning, when none of the offices have an orientation as to priorities of the new administration since there is no replacement ready to take over (because the office priority is to do nothing against Trump and Russian interference in election)....THAT is not 'normal'...that is extraordinary!

The analysis is far more sophisticated than the non-lawyers are understanding.

Sincerely,
Esq.

The US Attorneys were not surprised when asked to step down due to the political nature of appointments. It was a shame to lose Wifredo Ferrer because he had some great leadership as far as a community approach to prevent crime and recidivism. I know some right wingers who were salivating while waiting for him to be replaced with an appointee from the new administration.

However, my bigger concern is the lack of oversight and independence which is being created. The new administration is not looking to unify our country. Trump is using the election to justify that The People put him into office so The People are the ones who've empowered him. He thinks that every idea of his is "The People - Approved". It seems like a great argument for an elected leader in a democracy. However, the unfortunate component is that elections do not really speak for the voice of The People. It's a nice mechanism to justify a rise to power, but really, American elections prove which party/candidate was most successful in mobilizing their voters. Trump revealed in October, they were using voter suppression efforts against young females and African Americans. With today's disenfranchisement, the elections really do not represent the Voice of the People. The elections represent the Voice of the Powerful.

I knew we were in trouble when a clergy person told me that Trump was flying into MIA to meet with 300 clergy leaders (my family is in the clergy). The church has been a cornerstone of the community and serves great purposes in this country. Personally, I do not believe we have ever had separation of Church and State. It has always bothered me since I was 8 years old. The danger was that the church's success is based on blind faith.

If Trump was meeting with 300 clergy leaders, these leaders would effectively carry his message out for him. People would believe the message was divinely inspired. They would go home and tell their families to vote on behalf of God.

The chilling effect I had when this clergy lady told me about these meetings, was that Trump was engaging in intelligent political operatives. It meant he had actually hired political strategist who knew how to win. This particular member of the clergy expressed how great it was that Trump cared enough to meet with him and saw it as his authentic concern for the Church.

Now progressives have also worked the churches. However, they target African American churches. They believe the success of winning the Black vote is to show up to church during the election season. Quite frankly, they do not put much more into the outreach to the African American community.

Numbers do not lie. If you are going to win over White churches vs. Black churches, the majority is going to win you an election. I look forward to a day when the segregation dissipates, but for now, it is very much a reality. I think religious people should have a right to worship in peace without any politicians showing up. I very much believe in the separation of Church and State (it should go both ways).

Shame when good attorneys are punished for knowing the law. Bahara will get a high-paying job with a top firm and be fine. Wish I could say the same for America.

Really, they should have been evaluated on their own merits, and a transition plan should have been determined. It is scary for such an upheaval when the appointed has a clear disregard for the law, and certainly doesn't understand how government works. Look at the money which will be wasted in court by his rogue approach this far. He tried to ban a fricken religion for God's sake from entering a country based on the Freedom of Religion. There needs to be citizen oversight. It would be great if instead of Senate confirmation, there was a citizens review panel of the appointees.

Who knows what crazy kooks this nut job will appoint? The thing about the appointment process is that is much more political than the elected process. Appointees are subject to political favors, if they would like to keep their job.

On a positive note, at least last night we got to lose one more hour living under this tyrannical imbecile...

This Preet Bharara let former Senator Jon Corzine escape justice after a $1.6 billion dollar Wall Street fund collapsed. Very Fake News.

My guess is that some litigation or investigation is in process or about to happen, and to stop it immediately, instead of targeting who they really wanted, they fired a whole group of attorneys at the same time so you could not isolate the intended target. Time was of essence so the 24 hour or end-of - the day notice was critical. No other logic makes any sense.

He will fire as far as he can -- this is why civil service was put in place. Can't wait till he tries to fire the entire OMB when it reveals what a joke the republican heath care plan is. This is politics as blood sport -- are there really no sane republicans willing to take a stand? Shame on them all!
