I Voted for Donald Trump. By Geniusofdespair

Not an alternate fact, I did vote for Donald Trump. I was a RINO and I voted for the worst candidate in the primary, the one I thought would lose against the flawed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Heck, I had a hard time voting for her in the General Election. The rise of Bernie Sanders should have been a clue but Democrats are clueless. Even the worst candidate in the history of bad candidates couldn't be beaten by the Democratic choice.

I never imagined the breadth of Xenophobia in this country until Donald Trump won. It is not REALLY fear of Islamic Extremists. It is about all those reproducing Hispanics. I have many Hispanic friends who I love dearly, but I have to admit that I have been treated extremely rude by some Hispanics. Two examples out of many: I asked a man to lower his blasting radio on his boat. He yelled at me and made it louder. I  was once standing in a hospital minding my own business, in my usual fog of "what am I doing here." A woman came over and started rattling off a long speech with lots of questions in Spanish. When she was finished, I said: "I don't speak Spanish." In perfect English she started yelling at me for not telling her sooner I didn't speak Spanish.  She could have asked. Very seldom am I asked "Do you speak Spanish?" I am expected to speak Spanish. That kind of attitude does not foster friendship it seeds animosity. It is not to keep out bad Hispanic people that the Mexican wall is being built, it is  to stop Hispanic people, good and bad.  Let's get real on that.

To combat the Hispanic Xenophobia I was seeing, I started my abrazame campaign, hugging 100's of strangers, hoping it would catch on. It was a great experience for me. I realized how loving our Hispanic population is.

When we have demonstrations now, there is always a Cuban for Trump that shows up. That galls me to no end. Why should I stand up for Hispanic immigrants if many Cubans won't? When I went to Westchester during the election there were Trump supporters everywhere. Why do they hate their own kind? Why can't they want the same opportunities they had for their fellow man? Why do they  want these Hispanics deported?

All of a sudden all our Cuban representatives to  congress are mute on the change in Cuban policy. They used to yell to the rooftops, what happened? Cuban Senator Marco Rubio has gone on a crusade against Hispanics entering the country. The White Supremacist publication the Daily Stormer calls Marco Rubio a Scumbag and a Spic. Exactly what is he doing? Where is his motivation coming from? Not his soul. I feel like he has sold his soul to the devil.

Here is what I don't understand, I get an email every day from a Democrat telling me to ask Marco Rubio for something. That's a fools errand. He has never done a vote I ever agreed with. Do they think he will change now? He is not even playing to his base. He has jumped on the Xenophobic Trump Train and is not getting off until some other Republican stand up to the crazy president. If you want something from Marco Rubio write to Norman Braman.

Anyway, the United States is fucked.

You voted for him? It is all your fault?

Why am I standing up to help Hispanics from being deported when Cubans and our own Senator won't? Because it is the right thing to do.

It is amazing how Donald Trump can so easily convince individuals to compromise their principles. He is a front man for the invisible ultra super rich. Hold on to your hats.

Miami Cubans are sickeningly racist. Some White Americans make efforts to rationalize racism (ie. Steve Bannon, David Duke) but Cubans in Miami have no case other than pure irrationality.

SOME Cubans are racist, but not all. When we march in protest, there are many Cubans marching as well. Blanket statements don't help the cause. Rubio has never done anything that he himself didn't profit from, either politically or financially. And when he says that the protestors are being paid, I wish he would tell us who's handing out the paycheck. I have walked the streets and plan on continuing to do so and it would really help to get paid!!!

"Anyway, the United States is fucked. "

This just about sums it all up. You could have left out all the rest in the preamble.
I know the frustration, trying to explain the non explainable to a reasoning person.

Industrial strength marketing, as it's applied to politics today, should be a required curriculum in all schools.
And something should be done to outlaw lying by government and aspirants, since it's highly frowned upon in the reverse order.
On second thought, it may be simpler to allow the people to behave presidential Trumpian towards the government.

Well, you will get what you deserve. You did not want a well qualified woman, so you got an unqualified man. And there has been turmoil in the world ever since you voted for him.

Sometimes it really really helps if you read what you comment on. I voted for both of them. One in the primary, the other one in the election

Any of the others would have been better than Trump.

If you think you have trouble believing Cubans voted for Trump you should view that situation from the shoes of a Cuban such as myself who voted for Hillary. There is a preexisting idea in most Cuban households, specially those homes headed by the older generation, that voting for anyone other than a Republican is an act of treason against the United States. This idea of course generates from the Kennedy debacle in Bay of Pigs and has been perpetuated by Cuban exile AM radio for decades on end without a response from radio commentators more aligned with Democrat ideals.
In this past election I battled my much older sister for her vote even going as far as letting her know that the future of my kids (her niece and nephew) was at stake and that a bigoted Trump cared nothing about Hispanics. To no avail, her and her husband voted for Trump by saying "the Democrats are a bunch of leftists". On a daily basis I argue with just about every Cuban friend of my generation about the election results. To no avail, they are not interested in hearing about Trump's vulgarity, the fact he has not paid taxes in over 20 years, his higher than though mindset and his lack of political experience. The fact they beat Hillary is enough for them to rejoice. When I remind them that Trump failed to choose a single Hispanic for his cabinet and that such mindset will trickle down from the federal, to state to local government taking us back to the 1960s when dreaming of a government job was wishful thinking, I am told "well, it is their country, he is right in not choosing a Hispanic for the cabinet". How do you fight that mindset? How is it possible that Trump, an individual way too chummy with Putin and the evil Russian/Soviet mentality that brought Cubans here get a free pass? I just don't know! I will tell you though, I will constitute to harp at them at the top of my lungs for however long it takes about how wrong they are with their presidential choice. I will debunk every one of those rambling ideas they throw at me to cover up the misdeeds committed by Trump. It is all I can do. One thing though, do not pigeon hole us Cubans as an all Trump loving mob. Some of us despise that Trump loving mentality and we are very much in the minority for it.

I read this blog daily with my coffee. This Is a poorly written article. I read it twice to see if it wasn't a spoof. Late night?

BTW, your vote for Trump was a hate crime.

Cuban's Republican support may be a result of their religiosity and may reflect practicing a version of Catholicism peppered with African beliefs. To clarify, Cuban household hold Jesus secondary to Lazarus who came back from the dead a common feature of the Zombie in African religions.

To the woman who does her best to educate her relatives and friends about fascism, I applaud your effort. Trump supporters heard his words, knew he was an entertainer, didn't show his taxes, and said he wasn't serious. It's about to get really serious. I'm a liberal who will watch as his supporters are denied insurance, denied their rights, denied their dignity. Welcome to Germany 1930's.

You voted for Trump because Clinton was going to be in Wall Street's pocket. Trump wants to repeal Dodd-Frank and eliminate the Fiduciary Rule, letting Wall Street return to its pre-2008 ways.

You voted for Trump because of Clinton's emails. The Trump administration is running its own private email server.

You voted for Trump because you thought the Clinton Foundation was "pay for play." Trump has refused to wall off his businesses from his administration, and personally profits from payments from foreign governments.

You voted for Trump because of Clinton's role in Benghazi. Trump ordered the Yemen raid without adequate intel, and tweeted about "FAKE NEWS" while Americans died as a result of his carelessness.

You voted for Trump because Clinton didn't care about "the little guy." Trump's cabinet is full of billionaires, and he took away your health insurance so he could give them a multi-million-dollar tax break.

You voted for Trump because he was going to build a wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. American consumers will pay for the wall via import tariffs.

You voted for Trump because Clinton was going to get us into a war. Trump has provoked our enemies, alienated our allies, and given ISIS a decade's worth of recruiting material.

You voted for Trump because Clinton didn't have the stamina to do the job. Trump hung up on the Australian Prime Minister during a 5pm phone call because "it was at the end of a long day and he was tired and fatigue was setting in."

You voted for Trump because foreign leaders wouldn't "respect" Clinton. Foreign leaders, both friendly and hostile, are openly mocking Trump.

You voted for Trump because Clinton lies and "he tells it like it is." Trump and his administration lie with a regularity and brazenness that can only be described as shocking.

Let's be honest about what really happened.

The reality is that you voted for Trump because you got conned. Trump is a grifter and the American people were the mark. Now that you know the score, quit insisting the con-man is on your side.

Thanks Mr. SImon. I have so much in me every day, that I just can't express it all. After reading your post I felt a psychological sense of relief.
