County Hall Meetiing Today on Sanctuary County. By Geniusofdespair

I am going at 10 and I don't expect much. This County Commission is in lock-step with the Mayor.

Many don't understand the mayor is the CEO of the county. That means every at will public employee from the lowly park manager to the county attorney ultimately answers to the mayor and the career public employee is not going to do anything like give a legal opinion which counter the mayors position and puts their job in jeopardy.

Grandstanding for one's ideal may feel good and get one some press in the short run, but in the end it does little for one's agenda and it pisses off the king which means one's constituents pay the price for political grandstanding.

and the bigger picture how does having a huge labor pool working illegally off the books or on public assistance help Miami-Dade? is this really about expanding illegal immigration or just the left pushing back against the election?

It is about the mayor's rush to jump on Trumps band wagon.

While we have an open floor today at the BCC, we should all ask Commissioner Estevan Bovo about the firing of his top aide Alex Annunciato. This is the same individual we read about here who was forced to retire from FHP for opening police heroin and cocaine pockets and replacing them with inert substances. Even with that kind of baggage he was hired by Bovo. As reported by the Herald a couple of days ago he crashed his county vehicle into parked cars and had to be extracted from the vehicle by the police. No DUI, no blood drawn, to tell us if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This is the type of circus that happens under Commissioner Esteben Bovo's watch as the Chair of the BCC. Bovo singles out immigrants as "criminals" and yet he hires him to work at his office. Good day to ask him these tough questions.

The great thing about democracy is that we have freedom of speech. Democracy is not free. It is something that se must defend and fight for with our lives if necessary.
Thankfully here in America, we have many Patriots that refuse to lay down and lap their master even if he is kicking us in the gut. This is Miami, a city made by immigrants, in a State called Florida, founded by immigrants and in a country called the United States of America, a country of immigrants.
This has nothing to do with political affiliation. It has to do with decency and understanding that at one time, we all came from immigrants and back in the day, our forefathers had limited if any vetting. You would think that someone with the last name Jimenez would understand the concept.....
