ANGRY CITIZENS at the Feb. 17th Hearing on Sanctuary Designation, THEY EVEN THROW STUFF. By Geniusofdespair

It is not just me. Finally Citizens get their fill of this crappy County Commission. Hear them voice their displeasure with a vote of the County Commission on supporting the Mayor's  --- NO SANCTUARY HERE IN MIAMI DADE COUNTY.

Watch the damn video.  ONLY 2 MINUTES BUT GREAT! THEY ARE EVEN THROWING STUFF AT THE COMMISSION.

Read my previous post about this meeting too.

Are we really fighting to protect criminals now? Have you seen the list of criminals that have been turned over since the County changed its policy? A DOUBLE murderer. A rapist. A person who committed a a burglary of an occupied dwelling AKA a home invasion. A kidnapper. And all repeat offenders, except for the kidnapper. Ask for it. It is public record.

By the way, throwing stuff is never "great." At anyone. It is unacceptable. period.

And amongst those rapists hundreds of innocent immigrants whose only crime has been crossing an imaginary line and are mow deported without recourse. Thanks to the three commissioners who stood up for hymanity.

The US has for years given Cubans sanctuary, including those that washed ashore - or were illegally smuggled in. Cubans were given sanctuary, without all the vetting that now goes on.

to the first anon

We should be fighting for due process of law. Nearly every one of the people ICE actually picked up for deportation had been ACCUSED of misdemeanors. Stuff like being drunk in public and petty theft. One of the accused murderers, ICE already decided they were not interested in.

that makes sense to you?

We are a country of laws. I've never been a fan of Gimenez, but on this, he is correct.

Ya ya ya,, boo hoo.... the votes were never there and everybody knew it. this was a dog and pony show from the get go with Cuba and Cava as the ringleaders. I got to think Katy was somewhere the background. the downside? Widely seen as giving Carlos a huge win given there was really nothing at stake.

Of the three no votes, two have sights on running for mayor. Clear to say now there are three. But three years is a long time in politics. if Trump survives impeachment there is going to be a huge backlash in 2020 and the lefties will be in vogue. Mr. Moonbean has no shot outside his zip code and the X man's been there done that.. BTW his kid isn't helping his cause..

IMO Daniella is the one to watch, fresh face progressive, a bilingual gringo, family money, brains with the Ivy league degrees to prove it and no baggage... yet.

On the the next anti Trump outrage....what will it be?

Half the law enforcement are criminals and immigrants in Miami.

People throw stuff because they have no other recourse. When people are without hope, expect even worse. Shame on the BCC.

The refugee crisis is a humanitarian crisis.Families and children live in tents, surviving on the kindness of international relief organizations. And the US backed rebels against Assad; those that foolishly thought they could take on the government. We should be helping Syria's refugees. And yes, some vetting is required. Yet, too many Syrians do not have a country to return to. One would hope Miami's Cuban population would remember.... and want to return the favor to others in dire need. For instance, some Cubans on the Mariel boat had criminal records; others mainly anti-Castro activist. Yet, I believe, they were all allowed to enter the country.

By reading the above responses you would think the only refugees to ever come to South Florida are Cubans. Trust me, there are plenty of other refugees from numerous countries here. Go to North Miami Beach and Little Haiti and you will encounter a large community of Haitians. The same can be said of Nicaraguans, Venezuelans, Russians, Hebrews, etc. Instead of breaking up families of illegal aliens who choose to work rather than commit crimes, the government should deport only those individuals who are illegal and are arrested and transported to jails throughout the country for felonies and violent crimes. Permitting honest illegal refugees to work here, pay taxes and contribute is the only viable road to solve this problem. All that other rhetoric from our new president is just demagoguery.

Yeah great idea Mariel 2.0 'cause that's what we need here....Let them all in and God'll sort them out.

Crazy that any Cuban could vote Yes with a straight face. For some reason as a group they think they are different/above other immigrants. Meanwhile, they visit any other state in American and they'll be called Mexicans.

"I've never been a fan of Gimenez, but on this, he is correct."

Yeah, had nothing to do with his family's financial ties to Trump...
