Donald Trump, You Can't GAS LIGHT ME! By Geniusofdespair

To gas light is to psychologically manipulate a person to the point where they question their own sanity, and that’s precisely what Trump is doing to this country.

My childhood was very traumatic and reading about Donald Trump's Gas Lighting in Gimleteye's post yesterday made the light bulb go off in my head.

My father gas lighted me!

I never knew normal because he wasn't. But, I had television. From watching television I learned what people were supposed to do and how they were supposed to act. There were a lot of aprons involved.  Father Knows Best, Leave It to Beaver and Donna Reed saved my sanity. From watching those shows I figured out something was very wrong in my bizzaro household and it wasn't me.

Maybe that is why I am so upset now. I feel like this is an alternate reality again. For example, how can grabbing a woman by the pussy be okay for a President to say ("locker room banter.")? All the minimizing, lying and back pedaling going on brings me back to 8 or 9 years of age when I used to ask myself, am I crazy or is it daddy? How is it I remember it this way but daddy says it never happened and mommy is gas lighted into a mute. Huh?

Living with a sociopath in my life AGAIN ain't fun.

Tweeter in Chief: You can't gas light me, been there, done that.

False equivalency, Anon 1. Stop blaming the victim.

Trump is a foul person. He used hate as a weapon. He's a disgrace to civil society.

That's why most Americans (2.6 million more) didn't want him as their president. He's unfit for the job.

This gaslight idea might explain why enough Hispanic, black, women etc. voted for trump on n the rust belt states to elect him. These voters will come to learn that they voted against them their best interests.
The media didn't do their job of in depth reporting, instead let ratings rule their coverage.

You know, I think you're right about this. The lame stream media is trying their best to make all this seem "normal", when each day another catastrophic selection is made by Frump. Hey, friend of Putin for Secretary of State...then who won on Dancing with the Stars. A woman that hates public education will lead our Education Department....then Kanye and Frump walking together through the lobby like its another reality show. My husband is so sick of me telling him and warning him of the impending doom. I talk about selling my house and moving to another country and people look at me like I'm the crazy one!!! They go on talking like their pension money and their healthcare is going to be there for their retirement. Don't they remember what happened with Bush??? And its going to be much much worse. Between Putin and Frump, I would not be surprised by a nuclear bomb.

First reader, talk about missing the point you fell into a hole. What I call the ass-hole. Apologist for sociopaths good place to be. You realize I was just using one tiny example of abhorrent behavior. You have been gas lighted and you are so out of touch with your own logic, you don't even know it. I feel sorry for you.

For an 8 or 9 year old to identify something isn't right in family land, that you suspected your own father was lying to you says a lot about you. I am amazed that most adults are looking the other way, lying to themselves about Trump, dismissing his many problematic traits. You were a very smart child to detect something was amiss. Too bad our electorate is not that smart.

I have never had to deal psychologically or otherwise with someone like Trump. It is an extreme case of cognitive dissonance for me. I too say, a President for the United States of America can't talk like this, say these things, tell massive lies with machine gun speed, hurt people needlessly. At least you had some experience with this kind of person. While we knew there were bad characters out there, no one would ever imagine one would rise to lead the free world. My strategy is to turn the TV when he appears. I look for secondhand info now. I can't look at him or hear his voice.

"At least you had some experience with this kind of person"

Hmmm I wish I hadn't but it made me laugh that you think this is some kind of benefit for me, having had the experience. Let me see if I have some wisdom I can impart: Denial is not the answer, neither is minimizing. I am off to Washington for 24 hours the day after the inauguration. Let your voice be heard.

The comment I deleted-- same guy with almost the same message. Except this time he is defending the cabinet picks. If you call me naive after my post and you call out women for being whorish after rich men, you are guaranteed a delete.

Yep, no such thing as a gold digger, money and power don't corrupt and the Clinton got famously wealthy through hard work and very lucky speculative investing

Gold diggers like Marla Maples Melanie Trump do exist.
