Hudstead News: CAPRI Restaurant for sale. By Geniusofdespair

Actually in Florida City, the Capri Restaurant has been an institution of the good ole' boys network from Homestead. It is being offered at $4,700,00.

Since 1958 Richard Accursio's family has been operating the joint.  Many a campaign celebratory win (and loss) has been held at the place. Is there any place else for political junkies to hang out? Where will people eat? Not much of a choice in the area. That is a bad sign for residents. Having a Chili's, Olive Garden, Pizza-Spaghetti joint and two Mexican restaurants is a meager choice.

In other news, the Vice Mayor of Florida City Sharon Butler is one angry lady. Something is definitely in the water down South besides tritium. I agree with some of her sentiments but NOT how she is expressing them.  The Vice Mayor is saying she DID NOT post this but it came in on news feed of her friends.

Meanwhile, the city of Homestead is being sued by the Miami Speedway which is trying to squash the zoning variance given to our good friend Wayne Rosen. Apparently the speedway is claiming encroachment.

Patricia Fairclough, who ran in Homestead November 2015 for a two year term, had a PAC helping her called Building A Better Homestead.  Just guess who was the major funder. Yep, Wayne Rosen. And guess who is the Wayne Rosen Cheerleader on the Council: Patricia! Do not vote for her again. Wayne: move out of Miami-Dade county. Take your manipulation elsewhere.

In Hudstead four year terms are the norm except for Mayor and the Vice Mayor ceremonial position.
In Florida City nothing written or said should surprise anyone.

I guess according to this politician everyone owes her and African Americans a living. I remember growing up poor in South Florida. You knew the only way out of that cycle was to study, work hard and pray for good health. We should not support any injustice committed by police or anyone else against any citizen but if this politician thinks she is gong to make friends by supporting a group whose members call for "pigs in a blanket" she is quite wrong. Just reading through her rambling writing you can see this politician is more interested in taking what you have worked for than working to earn her own.

The problem with Black Lives Matter is lack of leadership with a coherent message. What others are hearing is not helping the cause. Do black lives seem to matter less to the rest of society? In my opinion, yes. How do you go about changing hearts and minds? Not with violence but with a clear call to action, the movement should look to the gay rights groups for some ideas on how to make changes that other people can clearly relate to.

There is a lot of hot air all over the place. Focus on the problem. Have the police stop killing innocent Blacks. And we can get back to the election and other things. There is ONE issue that is unbearable in the Black community. Police misuse of deadly force on innocent Blacks under the color of law. History has shown even with a thousand other racial issues, this issue alone lights the fire in Black communities. It is simple, stop the killing of innocents. The so called race issue is a mammoth issue that will be addressed over the generations. The killing can stop now and we can all go back to regular programming.

As long as the police has the task of going into crime ridden neighborhoods to fight crime you will have confrontations between the African American community and police. It is unavoidable. The same as it is unavoidable for police to have confrontations with whites, Hispanics or Asians when they enter areas predominantly inhabited by those ethnic groups. I sincerely doubt any police officer in this nation goes to work on any given day with the idea of mind of killing innocent blacks. Mistakes do happen and people die. Would the individual in Minnesota have died if he were not illegally selling CD's on a store front and the police was called to arrest him? Would the Ferguson case have happened if a young angry man had not entered a convenience store, robbed its owner and walked out to confront police? People have to be accountable for their actions and committing crimes and confronting police is a recipe for destruction regardless of your race, sex or creed.

the best Mexican food in this county is found in little mom and pop places in Homestead.

There is great charm and cultural flavor in our southernmost cities that you cannot find anywhere else in south florida.

Knock the politicians all you want, but lay off the local restaurants.

I have been to the Mexican restaurants the food is indeed delicious. I am saying there is a lack of fine dining spots. Name a fine dining restaurant where mother's day might be celebrated.

Rosen has bought politicians to do his bidding since the early 2000's Doral, Hudstead, Palmetto Bay are some examples. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have filtered into campaigns and been laundered to subordinates of candidates who then spread the wealth.
Agencies allow this to happen because Rosen is connected to the Governor and the County Mayor.
PDF is one more politician who is bought and paid for among the many having taken Rosen money. For Rosen buying zoning variances is easy pickings. The funny thing is the track does the same thing so it's really a case of a MASTER theatre puppet show. A judge will decide which MASTER will control the electeds going forward.
Place your bets.

Police can go in these communities and have confrontations, but this is America, and people are innocent until proven guilty. The police should not be judge, jury, and executioner. In most of these cases these people were simply murdered by police.

Until Homestead residents wake up and smell the coffee or the state wakes up, nothing will change. The cheerleader has a supporting cast of characters. How many of you "regular people" have been invited golfing at The Biltmore or Ocean Reef lately?

Deals are made in places you will never expect to find your local leaders, but they are there, enjoying the true benefits of being an elected official.

The Washington Avenue Taj Mahal is a clear sign of public officials drunk on power. Homestead is a working class community with working class needs. A fortune was spent on a spectacular building fit for a king. Developers don't throw tons of money around political circles without a catch. The powerbrokers have a stronghold on the politicians.

As far as fine dining, there are no spots because the economy will not support it. Maybe if our elected officials were more concerned with job creation, crime, the local economy and less concerned with pleasing developers who don't even live in the zip code we might be able to support a fine dining establishment.
