Zika Virus: No Cure and No Cure for the Donald Either. By Geniusofdespair

Baby born with Zika Related Microcephaly.

All we can talk about in the U.S. is Donald Trump, little more than a joke at first -- it gave me some chuckles when I thought of the birther who wore pink satin ties and sported the spun sugar hair running for President. But now it is serious stuff. He might be our next President. He can do no wrong. He even said if he shot someone, he would still have support.  Insanity is out of control in the U.S. The joke is over. When is the rest of America going to realize it?

While we are living through this jarring presidential election (it seems like for years), malformed babies are being born in Brazil and elsewhere because of a virus called Zika transmitted by a mosquito. Pregnant women are most at risk as the babies born are malformed. They first thought it only caused flu-like symptoms in adults but they now think it effects the autoimmune system of adults, and can lead to paralysis. The world is almost catatonic over the spread of this incurable virus (now hitting Venzuela hard, Colombia has 16,000 cases and, yes it has been found in Florida) that no one can stop and we in the the US are giddy with excitement over who will show up at a Republican debate. All of the news shows drone on and on over will he or won't he, and he didn't. Like it mattered??

Let's change our priorities please.

The rest of the world is laughing at us who have contracted the Trump virus. The media can't get enough of him. It is ridiculous. The only thing he has going for him is he is smarter than Sarah Palin and the Koch brothers or Adelson don't own him. I think the Trump phenomenon is an angry reaction to the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, but most of Americans don't realize that is at the core of their distrust.

My wife and I are actually cancelling a trip to Rio this spring b/c of Zika. Brazil has a ton of work to do before the Olympics, they are probably going to need help from other countries. Sad they spent so much on the World Cup and Olympics instead of basic sanitation (which is some of the problem).

Priorities should be South Florida is ground zero for sea level rise, Republican presidential candidates deny the problem.
Get firearms out of the hands of criminals, mentally challenged, and people on the terror watch list, but again even though the vast majority of Americans think this is the right thing to do, background checks are stalled in congress.
The banks and financial institutions that created the worst recession in generations, have not really changed the way they do business, and only a few got a slap on the wrist for their role in the problem. What is stop this from happening again?
We need a vision for the country to move forward, and voters should demand that form the local, state, and federal elected officials. Much of what is heard is rhetoric that doesn't solve anything.

Our country is no longer recognizable. It has become a mean, bitter, close-minded place. If we take one step forward, we take two steps back.

What is important is minimized while we worship the almighty dollar at all costs. And costing us, it surely is.

The reason we have Trump is because we have an incompetent moron in the White House who lies non-stop and who foolishly thinks climate change is more of a threat than Islamic terrorism, a term he cant even bring himself to say. The Democrat Party is in utter chaos and its current choices are a corrupt woman who will be in prison on election day, a socialist simpleton who thinks money grows on trees, and a dullard who claims responsibility for Baltimore's decay. The Democrat Party has lost the majority of state and federal offices in recent years and it is now in danger of collapsing.
