Opa Locka Picks Former Steve Shiver of Hudstead to Be City Manager. By Geniusofdespair

Former Mayor, Former Councilman, Former County Manager:

This should be very interesting fodder for us.  We have written about Steve extensively (in over 40 Posts) and so has Miami New Times.

The Miami Herald wrote about the coronation today of Steve Shiver as Opa Locka City Manager in Opa-locka’s new city manager is tied to Homestead’s past money woes:

But what the Opa-locka commissioners didn’t talk about was how Shiver was nailed in a county audit for misusing county and city funds in a series of bad business deals connected to the city’s political elite. And they didn’t mention how he was part of an investment group that purchased a beloved Wild West theme park in the mountains of North Carolina, which the investors took into bankruptcy.

When he left Homestead to become the county manager significant financial concerns were revealed,” said former Homestead Vice Mayor Steve Losner. “It was under his watch.”

Oh well, I could say: "What was the ethically challenged City of Opa Locka thinking?" but the Miami Herald already did... in so many words.

Hey it's not everyday that a drug addled wannabe slumlord and former carny barker applies to be a City Manager. The lobotimized braintrust that made the selection will mark September 2, 2015 with an asterisk going forward.

Hudstead's losses will soon be Opa Locka's losses. There are a lot of free agents on the loose Shiver will soon snap up out of the dust bins and landfills literally to aid him in his quest to divert intended funding to his buddies who will donate a percentage to his lifestyle.
The news of this hire has already tripled the city's crime rate.

There are unconfirmed reports Shiver was posting restroom out of order signs on the filling stations in Florida City last night and handing out urine specimen collection cups. He must have his testing today.

Does Opa Locka have a CRA?

I will know think of Steve Shiver as a warped version of Ali Baba (we need to replace the Maggie Valley Cowboy gear) and the Forty Thieves staring rejects of ethically challenged ex City of Hudstead/County Hall people from a decade or two ago all feasting inside that Opa Locka City Hall (I guess if some readers don't know what it looks like won't understand the joke)..........

What was Opa Locka thinking? Oh, right, they weren't..What a joke. And people wonder why there is no faith in politics/politicians. How much time should we give him before he brings in his cronies, wannabees and starts making "the deals"?

ah hah said...

Maybe Lynda Bell will be his assistant manager?

Like the Heat Opa Locka is putting together a Municipal Dream Team Pizzi as City Attorney, Shiver City Manager and there's speculation that Manny Marono as soon as he gets out of Club Fed will be the Clerk.

Is there any desired redemption available in the mind of this politician???

Maggie Valley Mudslide Lands In Court (2014)

Ghost Town’s former manager Steve Shiver, who skipped town after the park went bankrupt with a trail of bad debt, angry investors and unpaid bills, has been MIA during the nearly three years of legal filings and paperwork posturing between parties in the case. Shiver hasn’t responded to the suit and doesn’t have a lawyer defending him. He was listed by default as representing himself, but he hasn’t shown up to do that either.

With any luck he will have to move there. Getting him out of S. Dade is a wonderful thing. Thank you Opa Locka.

He's doing the limbo. His next act will be selling his blood every two weeks. This guy has fallen hard and fast.

This gig will be short lived and end in spectacular failure which will hopefully include handcuffs. The Snake has met his match in Pizzi
who will rip him to shreds over the spoils of war. "No brainer" is the unintentionaly stipid comment of the year. As in his stomping grounds of Florida City, I have to wonder out loud if the poor residents are aware or even care that they are being ripped off. It will be quite interesting to see the old crew back in action... Steve, Tom, Chris, Alicia. Heck, maybe Steadman will finally get that Police Chief job he thought would come from Homestead and Judy will be looking to be on the public dole. Only in Miami...

The surprising aspect of this post is for two days there has not been one attempt at a dissertation in the third person of the self aggrandizement that is Steve Shiver. By now he has usually submitted two or three to make us aware of how thin skinned and paranoid he really is. The Appalachian State alumnus might still be tethered to his table at the Capri and just does not have access to the internet after two days and nights of past, present and future hallucinations granted by the Opa Locka governing board.

Welcome back!! I bet you missed this place.

Love these posts. This has to have you all (same 5 over and over, Losner, Bell, etc.... ) going out of your minds. I for one wish Mr. Shiver the best and if you were not so biased, Ms. Genius of Despair and crossed eyed from your environmental terrorism along with lady boy Allen, you would be able to admit the truth. I am sure you wont have the "strength" or balls, G.O.D in your case to print this but I always love reading your hyperbole for shits and giggles.

Three out of five votes? Watch the three...They have probably found their piggy bank in Shriver. Otherwise why would anybody vote to give him a city manager's job?
