Raquel Regalado's Campaign Report. By Geniusofdespair

Although the current Mayor Carlos Gimenez has a shitload of money in his PAC (or was it an ECO?) over $500,000, he has yet to open a campaign account.

Raquel Reglado opened a campaign account in March and has almost $50,000 in it. Norman Braman, under many different companies, has given her the most money.  She had had many donations under $20. A lot of her donors gave her $5.

Raquel says she wants to increase technology and biotech jobs instead of retail and jobs in tourism. Transportation is her biggest issue. It is funny how people are saying oh, she has no experience to be Mayor but, lobbyist Carlos Curbelo, with only school board experience, is our Congressman, holding NATIONAL office. You can't have it both ways. Why is it okay for a man and not a woman that School Board experience is enough? I think that is pretty sexist.

Pepe Diaz, Joe Martinez (also threatening to run for Mayor and Congressman Carlos Curbelo at an Apostle Guillermo Maldonado service (he is another story)
Norman Braman is an enigma to me. On the local front I am in agreement with him on most issues.  On the National front I couldn't agree less. He is the biggest supporter of Marco Rubio. I think that Israel has clouded his judgement, that appears to be his big and ONLY issue.

I am not looking forward to April 13th. But then I am voting for Ted Cruz so I guess Marco Rubio's announcement won't effect me.

How much has Braman given to Gimenez in past years?

Does she want a commuter rail to Miami Beach by any chance?

He and is his wife gave $1,000 to his campaign account in 2012. In 2011
he gave nothing to his campaign account. I did not see Braman's name on Gimenez's ECO Common Sense Now.

But Gimenez got money from Williamson Cadillac and Potamkin, Rafael Garcia-Toledo ($10,000) Terramark ($10,000), Lynda Bell's buddy John Dubois ($10,000), Krome Grove Investors ($5,000) and $25,000 from WAYNE ROSEN, over $30,000, Coastal Construction, Florida East Coast Railway, The Related Group, etc.

... and don't forget to mention the "soft" monies Gimenez received and were utilized by his campaign manager Al Lorenzo to pay off boleteras in Hialeah and every other sector of this county. Gimenez would have gone to prison in any other county but the fact Lorenzo was also managing Kathy Rundle's campaign made that an impossibility. Inside the blue blooded aura he radiates and the Armani suits he wears, Gimenez is a shell of a man because he knows he was elected through the fraud perpetrated by his campaign manager. The worst part is knowing they were permitted to get away with it by those entrusted to safeguard us from that sort of crime.

What a ridiculous comparison. A Congressman is no different from any other elected official. Further if Miami Dade Mayor was ceremonial then maybe I would agree with you. Miami Dade Mayor is strong mayor - running the day to day business of the County.

The Mayor runs nothing. He has a gaggle of vice mayors to do it all. Forget the strong mayor, we have half a dozen managers. And a congressman is making more important decisions than a local politician. Your point is ridiculous. A mayor can make decisions such as the hours the library should be open.

Mayor Gimenez is doing a poor job at most everything he touches. In 2016, the public is going to get vile publicity campaign with him wrapped in the US Flag with a batch lies about how he's improved our county.

To all those Miami Dade County citizens who have been affected by Mayor Carlos Gimenez through the loss of jobs, wages, benefits, lack of essential county services, the ones threatened with pink slips or Gimenez appointed lackeys intent on continuing the corrupted government machine going, the ones offended by the public land giveaways to professional teams or billionaires, the environmentalists, put your money where your mouth is and either run for office or help anyone that will challenge Gimenez with political contributions or by assisting in the challenger's campaign. A 17% turnout at the polls will not help unseat this tyrant. Hard work and sacrifice from grass root groups is needed to unseat this mayor.

Waiting, waiting, waiting for 2016...to do just that fellow anon...
In the meantime, Miami-Dade residents who've never heard of him, the ones too busy to follow the news, need to have his name associated with his misdeeds.

Bring up his name now. Talk to a few people each day and by 2016, there will be a surge.

Raquel Regalado needs private sector experience. She needs a real job where she must meet a payroll. Gimenez has never had a real job either and for 40 years he has been coddled by the Fire Union and its ability to overpay its members using tax dollars. Look how things get screwed up by a Carlos Alvarez, a Manny Diaz, a Carlos Gimenez... Who wants another Marlins Fiasco? Who wants another municipal bankruptcy?

I think county government is too big. Empty buses are running all hours of the day. With so many municipalities having their own police forces why do we have so many county sergeants, lieutenants, captains and majors getting huge dollars?
There are way too many non-profits getting county dollars which merely provide jobs for the non-profit administration.
The entire apparatus needs an overhaul and nobody will do it because of so many sacred cows. The commission will never touch these subjects. Stop the waste, stop the duplication of duties and streamline the efficiencies of staff. Ever go to a county run hospital? The staffs are huge and half of them are on their smartphones all day.
Let's encourage more candidates with experience actually running something to run for county mayor.
I am tired of people who do not know how to save a buck spending tax dollars on foolishness to keep unions happy.

Sorry, above Annon, but former County Commissioner Lynda Bell ran on the same platform you recommend and was soundly defeated last August by an individual who championed the complete opposite.

The Age of Big Government began on January 20, 2009 and its here to stay!

Get used to it.

2016 will the year for women in Miami-Dade County. Hillary will take the county hands down, Annette will remove that dweeb we elected to Congress, and Raquel will vanquish the mental midget we have running the county. It is time for candidates with some big ovaries to produce good public policies. Move over, boys.

Lynda Bell was on to the unions and she was on to how the unions perpetuated over paid public sector employees. Yes, unions put Cava in office to stop Bell from hurting them. Hopefully Cava will be a fiscal conservative.

You are one daffy reader. Do you realize that this is a blog about someone else. Fuck fiscal conservatives they are like patriots. Code words for Republican.

We hope Raquel Regalado will advocate for reducing the number of full time employees at Miami-Dade County. Too much pay and benefits. Unions have too much power. Can Raquel stand up to the bullies?

Not if she wants to win the General Election.
