My Easter Message To Miami-Dade County: Compassion. By Geniusofdespair

Marcus Borg, Jesus Scholar, Wrote on Compassion (too lazy to read the first two pages, just read page 3):

Passage dedicated to people who need it like: Jorge Luis Lopez, Ron Book (Making money off your charity work Ron?), Brian Goldmeier, Rodney Barreto, Marco Rubio, Lynda Bell, Erik Fresen, Alex de la Portilla, Brian May, Pepe Diaz, Wayne Rosen, Anthony Verdugo, John the Bagel Boy, Miguel DeGrandy... you can add your own to my selfish un-compassionate people list in comments.

This passage is from the book written by Marcus J. Borg called The God We Never Knew (beyond dogmatic religion to a more authentic contemporary faith)

I would just include the entire lobbist list. They all need some compassion and to educate their out of town clients that don't care about the people living here already. The American Dream Mall lobbyists didn't even try. The owner displayed a lack of compassion for anyone but himself.

May our Risen Lord have mercy on all of us and bless our community and instill compassion into the hearts of our leaders and decision-makers.

Sugar Barons could benefit from compassion. The Fanjuls.

Jorge Luis Lopez (whose efforts I do not always appreciate) nonetheless wrote an editorial advocating for schools that appeared in today's paper. So maybe you got a little piece of your wish.

I think he only likes charter schools where he makes money I don't think he is championing regular schools --public schools. Will have to read it again.

The Kingdom of GOD on earth is a given and prophesied all over the Bible in many scriptures other than Revelations including Genesis, Psalms of David, Amos, Isaiah, Zechariah, and Ezekiel in the Old Testament. Even Jesus in the New Testament revealed a lot about the Kingdom. But not everyone will get into the Kingdom . . .

The concept of compassion is a God-like characteristic. In order to have compassion, man has to overcome his inherent Adamic nature that he was born with due to the curse. There are two levels of compassion that we have to be concerned with. Personal compassion and systematic compassion. On a personal level, it is what we do in our everyday walk as we deal with other people.

On a system level we have to be concerned with what we do collectively to assist others. When we elect non-caring, money-hungry, self-serving politicians we hurt our efforts at systematic compassion. They are all interrelated - personal and systametic.

Marcus Borg had a beautiful way of translating theology into real life action with compassion. He was a favorite of mine. We lost him this past January. Thank you for trying to make the point on the need for compassion, heart and stewardship at all levels of power.
