Here is another example of government failing to do its job and breaking its promises to you, because of the overbearing weight of businesses and their profit at the Port of Miami … by gimleteye

The difference -- and break with the recent past? That there is one county commissioner willing to call out Mayor Carlos Gimenez for failing to stand up for the laws of the land protecting the irreplaceable treasures of Miami-Dade County. That would be Daniella Levine Cava, District 8 County Commissioner.

Maybe Gimenez and Port officials need to pay the fines. The damage has been known since last year- they certainly could have stopped the dredging. The county is the army corps "client."

Go Daniella! This is just unbelievable. Did Gimenez think no one would notice? What is wrong with him?

This issue caught the attention of the New York Times. It is another embarrassment to Jeb Bush who is trying to run for President. Good for Daniela Cava. We hope Carlos Gimenez answers her questions. Carlos Gimenez should stop the illegal dredging immediately.

I wish Daniella had been a commissioner when this project was first conceived. The economic analysis used to justify the port expansion was faulty, yet no one at the county challenged it. The county's "all growth is good growth" mentality needs to be reigned in. Good for Daniella for not being afraid to recognize and call attention to reality!

Daniella is SMART and truly cares about Miami Dade County. I am hoping Dennis Moss and the other commissioners will join you and stop the destruction of Dade County. We support you Daniella just keep up the integrity that you have brought to the BCC. Thank You.

Daniela uses facts.

I would like to know how much taxpayers are on the hook for Daniella having three offices.
Downtown, Cutler Bay and Homestead.

Let's get that letter out as quickly as the one EoM posted.

Last anon, are you kidding? Every commissioner has an office downtown. The South Dade Gov't center is where Moss has an office too, we (taxpayers) already own it. Moss has an office in Florida City we (taxpayers) pay for. Daniella uses the City of Homestead office and I think one day a month and doubt they charge her for a few hours to be there..........She's a bargain compared to what Bell did in Palmetto Bay with no offices anywhere near the south end of the district!

PS: You may want to get a copy of the map of the district to find out how much geography she needs to cover to be available to her constituency!

Why do the commissioners need three offices?

Yeah Linda Bell would have stopped this if she had not voted out of office. This is all of the do-gooder's fault for shutting down the Mayor's YES GIRL!!!

Port Director Kuryla runs a travel racket using Port funds, with first class accommodations for politicians and insiders costing millions to taxpayers. So don't expect anything to be done by these people.

Lynda Bell lost partly because she was on to the union scam and she was telling people most County employees were overpaid. Sure, she was a nasty piece of work BUT she was on to the overpaid union worker scam.

The Homestead "office" is really Mayor Jeff Porter's office that is borrowed once a month to help the people on the very southern part of the district have some face-time with their Commissioner.
